hi,,,,, i get the same thing after i eat, and at the dinner table. i think you should call your doctor and tell him or her what is going on. and ask the to check the band, they can do a baruim swallow test to make sure okay.it gets worse i have trouble swallowing food and liquids, i get chest pains, pains in my left side also. i had to change all my doctor over to albany med the ones i had refuse to help me and fix my band, i just found out it is in 2 peices band part in my stomach and the port is on my left side. you can reach me at fordforda9466@aol.com hugs Ann

Thanks Ann , not sure if I was eating to much . But I was much better over the weekend . Trying to pay more attention to what i absorb . But did have some severe pain in left shoulder & back Friday night and the pants I wore to work may have contributed to it. If I wear stretch waist , os a bit larger waist I seem to be ok. I hope that is all it was. My port feels to be in the center

right below bra line ?? It feels that way , gonna ask alot of questions tomorrow.lol sandra

On another board, a lap-band surgeon addressed a similar question. He said it sounded like irritation of the diaphragm and said it would go away with time.

i get pain in my left shoulder if I eat too much. It is my understanding that it is actually referred pain from the diaphragm... wierd how that works isn't it?

Last year I've put up with the same kind of pain for months, together with a lot of gas going on, felt like I had a washing machine in my stomac. This stich like pain under my left ribs was sooooo painful that it took my breath away. I complained to my doctor and he didnt really have any answers, 12 months later it was discovered through a gastroscophy (sp?) that my band was in the wrong position and it flipped, with a lot of adhesions and had a large hiatus hernia. Had to go into surgery and have it repaired

I think it was more gas then anything . Hope you are doing better. Weighed today I'm at 190.

Didn't loose any this past week.omg.gifGoing to have to work harder !! Keep in touch .I hope its not anything requiring surgery again.Good Luck !wink.gif Sandra

Have you tried to take Beano before eating your favorite ("gassie") Soups? I too love butter bean Soup and the Beano takes care of the gas problem for me. Also works great for eating veggies like broccoli and cauliflower etc. Hope this helps!

Sandra, try 2 tablets with a little Water a few minutes before you eat. If you still have a bit of gas from your food, next time try 3 tablets. It's an individual thing and since Beano is just an enzyme, it won't hurt you. Sometimes it takes 3 tabs for me...especially for the butter beans!

I also keep some gas meds on hand like generic GasX or Phazyme (simethicone) and I'll take a couple of those after I eat if the gas is still a problem.

The nurses at the hospital told us to keep the gas pills on hand and use them after surgery too for pressure, bloating and gas discomfort. It also comes in flavored "thin strip" form that you lay on your tongue and it melts pretty fast in your mouth. Not bad.

Have a great day!

Sharon

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
