How long do you need to wait to eat almonds or peanuts?

Recommended Posts

My NUT said I could have Peanut Butter during my stage 4 ( weeks 3-7) which was when I could eat just aloud Protein only...no veggies fruit carbs etc and that I could eat actual, peanuts and nuts after week 7. I did have a few almonds at week 6 and had no problems. Just don't eat too frequently because both are high in calories and dat.

My surgeon's instructions were no nuts or seeds until 3 months. Since then mixed nuts are a go to snack I have almost every day.

No nuts or seeds here for 3 months, but I could have no sugar added nut butters of the smooth variety. I poured the oil off the top of the all natural types and enjoyed a small spoonful in my Protein shake or all by itself.

I got used to those so now, the regular types are far too sweet.

I also had to wait 3 months before eating nuts, seeds, skins, membranes.

I am 7 weeks out and allowed to eat anything tolerated. I eat nuts daily as a snack.

My dietitian/program at Kaiser has nuts on the banned list forever as it says its too hard on the stomach to digest. Of course they seem to be ultra conservative with all of their rules in general. They also ban coffee forever and at 15 months out, I'm not about to give up my one cup in the morning! I also snack on cashews and almonds on occasion. If I eat too many at once it does hurt a little. It's a different hurt than what I experience when I eat too much food on occasion. Eat them slow and chew them up really good. Wait until your well adjusted to solid food.

I was allowed 1 tbsp of nut butter on the full liquids phase. I used them to hide my crushed Vitamins or to flavor my Protein Shakes. Once I was cleared to eat whatever I could tolerate at week 6 I started back eating nuts. I prefer almond, pistachios or no salt added cashews. They make a good Protein snack.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
