So, surely I'm not the only overweight person with lots of skin tags in friction areas right? I'm curious what happens after WLS with them. I have heard anecdotally from others with general weight loss that sometimes they just drop off when there is no longer friction. I am not looking forward to having these things snipped off - there are many of them. I did a search and never found anyone mentioning skin tags here!

Honestly, I snip them off myself. I have a very sharp short scissors (sewing scissors) and it works great! Never had a problem. I bet I have removed 15 of them.

I snip them off too. If the scissors are really sharp, and you snip very quickly you don't feel it. They do bleed for a bit though.

Yikes! I've thought about it but just never mustered up the guts. I only have one right now that is dead in the middle of my chest right above the cleavage, so every v-neck I wear you can see it. I'm trying some liquid stuff called tag off but it says it can take up to 8 weeks for it to dry out and fall off.

I have skin tags but not related to areas where friction occurs. I get alot of them around my neck and shoulders and larger moles on different areas. I've never snipped them myself. My dermatologist snips what she can get in 15 minutes and charges me $500 as it is considered cosmetic and thusly not covered by insurance. She even calls it the '15 minute special'.

The only thing I have noticed is a huge change in the amount of chafing I used to get from the thighs rubbing together. These days, my thighs don't touch so there is no issue at all. Plus I don't get the rashes and other skin irritations from being heavy and sweating all the time. So much better now. I can wear pantyhose in any weather and no longer have to worry about fighting to get them up over the thighs and belly....

OMG you guys are brave! I could never snip them off!! I have had skin tags in area's that are NOT friction related and probably not obesity related either. I had them around my eyes, and I heard that it can be caused by a deficiency of some sort and a million and one other things.

I tried that skin tag off stuff on one that was on my neck near my necklace line and it did not work. I have had a co-worker that had them on her neck also and she would tie them off with dental floss at the base to choke off the blood supply and then they would fall off but that also felt like torture to me...I don't think I could do it to myself.

In the end I went to a plastic surgeon and had him remove them all. I wasn't about to start snipping or let anyone else snip around my eyes and on my face. While he did my face and neck and asked if I had any others he removed them from under arm that had been there for years and years as well.

Nice to be tag free...though one right under my eye at the top of my cheek is starting to come back again..it's OK b/c now I know it's not terrible to have them taken off :)

I had mine taken off at the dermatologist office ( I HAD MANY). They haven't returned post wt loss. As well as the dark skin (caused my metabolic disease as well) has vanished! My neck, my underarms, all creases that once had darkened skin & skin tags are "normal" :)

I used this herbal liquid from a local store .. I removed three at a time as recommended by lady at store and slowly (3 days average) they fall off, I'm almost completely clear of all skin tags and none have come back. The lady told me this kills root and won't grow back. Wish I had a name to share but it's in a Amber vial with only ingredients on it. So far no scaring or issues. A small vial about half oz or oz has removed about 17 skin tags and I still have some liquid left. She also told me its strong enough to remove warts and moles. But I'm using it for skin tags only. The bottle was $20.00 (seems a lot for such a tiny vial) but it's done its job :) I'll post a picture when I get home of the bottle. If anyone is interested I'll ask for the stores Amazon link. (I think she told me she had an Amazon store).

Got to vote with the snippers! I used sharp sterilized nail clippers. I went to my regular MD for those I could not reach and she got all of them in ten minutes. One of my former docs told me that they were primarily genetic. I would never do any around my eyes even if I could reach them! I have had no success in getting my wife to snip them off, but can't really blame her!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
