Day 3 pre-op liquid diet. Surgery Monday the 13th. The days are ticking by slowly. Yesterday was really rough--no coffee, no food, mainly no coffee. Had a bunch of work to do but couldn't manage to get through anything. Slept all day. Seriously did not get out of bed except to walk my dog once. Today was much better. Went to store to get myself some v8. Tired of sweet shakes--but so grateful that the Protein helps to take the edge off. Have been more desirous of flavor than food. Just really worried I won't have the energy to finish all the work I need to do before my procedure--if I could just have a little caffeine! Ugh. Such an addict.

Day 4 of pre-op was murder. I also had to go to my nutrition class, and all we did was talk about food all day (okay it was only an hour or so but it seemed longer). I think I was the only person in the class already on their pre-op diet. It was miserable.

3rd day of my liquid diet. Results so far... chicken broth is blissful, I'm very tired and fairly hungry most of the day and going to a pizza place with my kids and watching them eat cheesy pizza is pure torture. Focus on the big picture right? ! :)

Being post up now I'm starting to finally feel better , the gases are passing and so is the pain from it.

Taking meds has been a real challenge , every thing seems to get stuck. The nurses gave me the tip of using Jello for them to slide easier and it sure Helps.

Walking, Walking and more walking helps So much too.

I'm having a really hard time with my Protein intak. I can Only Sip about 4 drinks from my Protein Shake before I feel "nautious". Hopefully that will get better over the next few days.

For anyone who has Problems with Protein Drinks the taste and after taste of them was my biggest Concern until I was told about unjury ' My NUT gave me a few samples to try and I was shocked how good it really tasted | especially the chicken Soup one.

Good luck to All who are having Surgery real soon take your time to , recover and don't rush ,all your going to do is hurt yourself in the process,

Ice chips will be your best friend that first day to day and a half.

Speedy recovery to everyone here and thanks for the support here.

My unjury chicken and other samples showed up. I wish I looked at the nutritional facts before purchasing, the sodium is 770 for the Chicken! :( So instead of this being the staple I was hoping for, it is going to have to be the occasional treat. I am going to try it tomorrow.

It looks like I will be ordering the unflavored to add to broth.

@@jjbowersock how are you taking your meds with Jello?

The Jello helps coat the pills as they go down . I just take a bite of jello to wet my throat and then With the next spoonful l add one of my pills to it and swallow it with the Jello. pills aren't stuck no more . @@OutsideMatchInside

I am on say 5 of my 2wk shake diet. Day 2 and 3 were harder as I had to go to meetings and dinners. But broth gwas my meal with my shake and I did get though them. No more dinner meetings so the remainder should be ok until surgery

I had my surgery Thursday and today is Sunday and am flying home. I'm glad to report that I feel great and am not worried about the flights at all. The first couple days were terrible. I had very bad pain in my shoulder and chest when I awoke. The nurses kept telling me that it was normal, but I had read enough of these posts that I knew it was not normal to be in so much pain. On Friday I was crying from the pain, then in agony from the nausea when they gave me more pain medicine. Finally, the doctor surmised that mydrain was pinching a nerve and agreed to remove my drain a day early. Wow! It was like night and day. Since then, I have had a pretty easy time. Drinking is fine, I have had no nausea or pain, and I feel like this is already a great decision. So happy to be going home and feeling great!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
