I am being Sleeved on May 28th. I will have my pre op visit to the hospital sometime the week of May 11th. What should I expect? Has anyone ever not been cleared after these tests? I am nervous they will find something!

My pre-op visit was basically a review of the surgery to make sure I understand everything and then a visit with anesthesia. They checked my teeth to make sure there were no issues to be concerned with and if there were, they would just document it, and keep an eye on the area during the surgery.

I also was given an incentive spirometer to practice on and use prior to surgery, because you will need to do it during recovery. They also gave me a special soap to wash the night before surgery and the morning of surgery.

It wasn't anything too scary or crazy.

My pre-op visit is May 12. I live an hour and a half south of city so I wanted to make sure I had preop testing all on the same day, I called preadmissions at the hospitaland got it set up.

So, how are you doing?

I'm anticipating a VSG by Dr. Pham in Sept or Oct.

Love the MD so far, but can't say too much for his NUT or the "exercise" instructor. We all sat in the doctor's waiting room while the instructor explained pre-post op exercises - but they weren't demonstrated because she was pregnant. No way to know if we'd be doing them properly once we got home. And some of the info from his NUT was just "nuts".

Hey there. I am doing well. I am about 16 days Post Op. I haven't had any problems.....almost no pain within 2 days, Have been able to get everything down so far that I have tried. I agree about the "exercise" instructor. It was the same when I went. She showed us a few things with the resistance bands but that was it. Did you see the nutritionalist Kristen? That is who I had and I liked her. I only had to go once though and she basically went over the pre op diiet and post op diet. She also went over what I was eating because I had stated a low carb diet and gave me a little advice. If your on Facebook there is a private facebook page for Dr Phams patients. If your interested in joining message me your e-mail address. Do you have to have a supervised diet first?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
