My name is Diane and I live in SW Florida. I am as of today 6 days post op and on my last day of Clear liquids before graduating to Thick liquids. Looking forward to it as I'm feeling really weak today. I have lost 19.4 pounds so far. I started out at 5'4" and 259,8 lb s. I can't believe I got so big!!!!! I was thin the majority of my life and not sure what changed but it was affecting my heart and joints so badly my primary physician saw this surgery as a possible fix on all the other things. I was on the fence about doing this (to late now, LOL) until the day before surgery. I have alot of support at home which is good. My surgery went well and I've had relatively little pain, also good. My only issue is the Water intake. No matter how much I sip there is no way I can get the 70 oz they want down. anyone else have this problem? Hopefully in a year I will recognize the person staring back at me from the mirror again and my health issues will imporve. But Oh Lordy do I miss potato chips. :)

P.S. My surgery was performed by Dr. John G. Raheb, out of Ft. Myers FL. Highly recommend him, he's the bomb!

Try the water-enhancer drops in your Water. It seriously helps getting in what you need! If the cold water hurts as it hits your new tummy, try tepid water for awhile. Good luck to you and welcome to your new, healthy life!!!

It's a hurtle, with each new day just make sure your adding so that you will meet the goal.

Plus, I found if I go the bottle goes. Just keep it by your side at all times, then you can just sip away.

2 days ahead of you…you got this. :)

@Dizzylynne, welcome to Bariatric Pal (BP) !

Many people had problems getting in the required amount of Water, but the key is to try. Sip, sip, sip. I have always enjoyed water. In the beginning I fell short but within weeks I was able to meet goal.

The first 3-4 days were rough. After that, I had NO issues. I am almost six months out & can tolerate almost everything. So grateful for this a tool.

My suggestion is to start working out as soon as you're allowed. I made the mistake of not working out much. My weight loss has slowed tremendously. Lesson learned. starting back up asap.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
