I had my RNY on 10/7/14 and have lost 86 lbs!!! I am super excited about that and I feel so much better. I have hit a wall though and have not lost anything in almost a month. I try to eat right and I work out 3-4 times a week. I don't know if I am adding muscle which is why I hit a wall, my thyroid could be low again, or am I messing up somewhere. Any one else go through this?

My first question would be...What is your calorie intake.? As you loose and you continue to exercise, you may need to increase your calorie count to keep your body from going into starvation mode. Also, you might want to take measurements. We all hit a stage where the weight doesn't move but you're building muscles and things like your size will change. Don't get discouraged, we've all been there.

I agree with Sugarfreeme I had a stall of almost 1 month when I afjusted my calorie intake the weight started coming off again , I exercise 5 times per week got at least 2 hours . Stay focus the wright will come off . Good luck .

I would definetly encourage your doctor to run a full thyroid panel. I have hypothyroidism and when I had my 6 month check up my thyroid levels had dropped. So I went from 150 mcg to 175 mcg of levothyroxine. I have been taking 150mcg for years now. I don't know if the drop is related to the surgery or not. I agree with a possible need for calorie adjustment. You need to find your sweet spot. I have to up my calories if I am really active that day or I am on my monthly cycle. If I don't I feel a difference. Measurements are a great tool. I started from the beginning. I measure my neck, biceps, forearms, chest, waist, hips, the largest part of my thigh and the largest part of my shin. Phew! I re-measure every 4-6 weeks and I do the same for my best friend. My weight loss began to slow, but not stop at about 6 months. I am now 11 months out and I have hit not only my doctor's role but I'm on par to hit my personal goal. I am 5'4 large frame and my personal goal is 135 pounds. According to the "national weight charts" I should weigh between 113-141. I am currently in a 4/6. My next goal is gaining more muscle mass so my body burns more calories both at rest and when I work out. So I am shooting for the fitness range. Sounds like your doing great just need some adjustments perhaps.

I am almost 3 1/2 months out and I'm down 68lbs, and i entered a biggest loser contest at my gym and it goes by body percentage lost so i up against women half my size who i have to lose double what they lose to even compete with them. Through this process i have learned that getting enough calories in a day makes a big difference. One week i was eating 800-900 and i lost 7lbs, then the next week i ate 500-650 in calories and i only lost 2.7lbs. Through those weeks i kept my exercise the same of 6 days a week, 2 hours a day, 1 hour and 40mins cardio and 20mins Strength training. So just like was suggested, find out how many calories work for your body and your activity level. My nutritionist said normally we should be intakeing 800 - 1200 after the 2 month mark following surgery.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

        I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.
