There is another thread on the acutrainer (I don't think I spelled that right, but it is something close to that). It is the closest that I know of. Good luck with your search, let us know what you choose.

I just wanted to add comments about my new super fabulous toy. I have been wanting one since last year when they were shown on biggest loser. I was hesitant on buying a new one because of the cost. I was afraid it would be another weight loss toy that i would use once or twice and then give up on. So last week i bought a used one from a guy at work and i gotta say, this is the greatest thing i have ever bought ever. I'm a data freak so if i cant see the numbers then i dont pay attention to what i am doing and i lose interest. this tells me exactly what i have to do. I have been logging my food for years so I have no problem doing that with this product. Now i get an accurate measurement of what i am burning and finally all of the pieces have come together. this is the puzzle piece i have been missing to go along with my band and my therapy. I have used it for an entire week and and logged all of my food and even with eating some bad things and not execising like i normally do, I still lost 3.6 lbs. now i know that some of that was Water weight due to girly stuff, however I am pretty sure that this will help keep me on track even more. The downside is that i am a swimmer and a diver and i can not take it with me in the water. boo. hopefully in the 4th version of the band the can figure a way to make it water proof and diving proof.

i found this thread via google a while back while looking up the bodybugg. i did get one and i been using it for 2 weeks. down about 2 lbs (142.6 to 140.4). i take in 1800, and burn anywhere from 2300-2500.

i am very curious and shocked to why your intake is soo low??

how can you get enough nutrients and stuff your body needs for barely 700 calories??

i think recommended for females is at the bare minimum 1200 and if that doesnt create a deficit you like..you have to increase your activity level.

it's not just you..i read so many posts in here where you girls were eating so little.

maybe i am missing something here..:wink2:

Most of the people on this thread have had lapband surgery, therefore, reducing the voume of food most of us eat. Having said that, 700 calories is not enough. At my most recent Dr visit I had lost 3 pounds of muscle, therefore, I have increased my calories to between 1000 and 1100. I am working up to 1200 call/day and increasing my activity. Of the 81 pounds I have lost this is the first time I have lost any muscle, so my caloric intake was ok for my body until now. I have started running, so I need the extra calories to support that activity.

1200 is a good number for women as far as intake, but if I have learned anything since being banded, it is that everybody is so different, and what works for one may not at all for someone else.

Looks like you are doing great with your bugg. Keep it up! I have not posted numbers lately, but I try to take in 1000 calories and have a deficit of 1500 daily.

oh ok. thats good to know. sometimes people forget about all the necessary nutritions and Vitamins your body gets through diff foods..and i can't imagine eating only 700 cals while burning over 2000.

bodybugg can be a dangerous tool because people can get carried away with the deficit and instead of increasing the deficit with activity..they take the easy way out and do it with cutting food.

Well I purchased one this past week but I won't start using it until after my surgery (which is Tuesday.......please say a prayer) any tips for a beginner that knows nothing about it??????

just know it's not waterproof!

i think the biggest tip is make sure you don't get carried away by the deficit and numbers. over a period of time, the numbers will make sense. and also eat enough calories. create a manageable deficit (500-750) by increasing your activity and you will be able to stick to your goal.

OK, I'm looking for a deal on a used Bodybugg!!!!

when do you want to buy one and how much do you want to spend?

V2 Bodybugg is $200 at 24hrfitness.com. Average price on ebay is probably like 150.

Sensewear or bodybugg..you can't go wrong with either because they are both made by the same company (bodymedia).

you have a couple of choices.

a. get v2 bodybugg for around 200 with three months included.

b. get v3 sensewear for 400 with six months included.

c. wait for v3 bodybugg. my guess it will be around 350 with probably 3 months included.

the biggest advantage of sensewear v3 (and future v3 bodybugg) is that..IT'S SMALLER! [50% lighter, 20% thinner, 40% smaller footprint]

i didn't feel like spending $400, or waiting for the next bodybugg. so that's why i bought it.

when the new one comes out...i might get one so i can wear it underclothes without people asking me.

here's how i see the whole ebay thing.

a. auction for brand new one with whole 3 months.

if you save a significant amount, then i don't see why not unless of course you want the warranty

b. auction for a used one with "some time" remaining.

this is good because you will have enough time to change the program up and make it yours and the next $100 you spend will be used to add an additional year to your program

c. auction for a used one with no subscription

i would stay away from these because it's going to cost you $100 to buy 3 months. even if you get the armband for a $100, you still wouldnt save anything in comparison to the 24hr deal

pooh, I usually shoot for a defecit of between 1000 and 1500. It is important to make sure that you take in enough calories to support your activity. I learned this lesson the hard way. I just finished reading Jillian Michael's book "Losing to Win". It is an excellent book and talks about calorie intake vs deficit, etc. It is very much worth the read. I understood from her book that it is ok to lose weight quickly as long as you eat the right foods, so a large deficit is ok if you support that with proper nutrition. I would have a 500 to 750 defecit without much effort at all. Here are my numbers from yesterday, and I only did 30 minutes of exercise. I do 30 min one day and 1hr on the other day, so I have a greater deficit on my 1 hr day. You also have to consider what your routine daily activities are. I have 5 kids and 4 of them are 4 and under, so I am chasing kiddos all day everyday. That's sure to burn a few calories by itself!! Best of luck to you. I love my bugg. It is a great tool in keeping track of what i am eating.

Yesterday -

total Burn - 2340

Total intake - 1085

Deficit - 1255

Do ya'll know if there is anyway to download the memory from your bugg without getting a subscription? Mine has run out and I don't really need to upload it, just get the memory freed up. I have a digital display so I know what my cals are at the end of the day.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
