Feeling FATIGUED/HICCUPS/Nothing sounds good......

Recommended Posts

Well, it is almost a week (3-6-15) after my surgery, and I am so tired all the time. I just want to sleep, but I know that is not good for me. I went on youtube and looked up one week post op gastric sleeve, and saw all these women in makeup, and hair done !!?? What is going on with that? I still look/feel like crap!!I know I need to start adding more Protein to my stuff too. Getting pretty sick of lemonade MIO. I did have some broth yesterday, which i got full right away. I am starting my second phase today, hopefully that might help, different textures and stuff. Another thing that is bothering me is HICCUPS and belching. I never had this problem before. and now those stupid hiccups actually hurt.... Another thing is that nothing sounds good....i put something against my mouth, and now my mouth has some weird aftertaste....Happen to any one??? Going to make me a Protein shake today, we shall see, oh yeah and that protein supplement Isopure, stinks. UGH UGH Ugh

Sorry to hear you are running into problems. It took me 6 months after surgery to get into a happy state.

I had RNY surgery 22 months ago. Sometimes when I overate by a small amount, I develop weird symptoms. I might begin to sneeze or hiccup. I remember the hiccups hurting. It took a few months for my body to heal after surgery. Then the pain from hiccups disappeared.

I was home, mostly in bed, for two weeks. My fatigue lasted even once I was back at work for a month or so. I would come home from work and nap.

The taste thing my nutritionist told me about--side effect of ketosis. Rapid weight loss puts you into ketosis... (Google it for all the chemistry) When you burn fat, most of the ketones are excreted through your urine, but others are exhaled when you breathe. It gives you bad breath, and leaves residue in your mouth that can give a bad taste. People often say "things taste different after surgery".

Think about it as an incentive not to eat things you shouldn't. I definitely can tell when I'm losing weight--everything tastes yuck to me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
