I think my wife of 36 years will be so grateful to have a skinny vs fat hubby! She married me fat, she is used to me fat, but she knows that I will be around to bug her way longer this way --- She honestly always supported me, never nagged me, always fixed healthy food when she cooked, and has been a good partner in that way. I know that with one month post-op, she has seen me on many diets, but never saw me lose 42 pounds in a month...

I agree with the above statements it also does not help when family members and friends make inappropriate comments that now that you are smaller then your spouse better watch out which makes them feel insecure also. They put negative comments and thoughts into their head as well. I would just continue to try and reassure your love one that you are not going any where and they are the love of your life, I know I had this issue and have to constantly reassure my husband that I am not going anywhere and now my husband feels more secures and can handle the comments.

Gents, Is it really a competition thing? I think men are just a little more regimented. I'm use to following Doctor's and nurse's orders. I am going through the jealousy stage that my first four weeks have been going better for me than for my GF. I've lost more weight in the last few weeks than in her last few months. From observation I am amazed she hasn't popped staples. She can now gulp down a 14 oz Muscle Milk or Lee Labrada shake in one shot. Personally, 8oz and my stomach says "YOU ARE FULL NOW FAT BOY!" I'm doing my best to follow the dieticians directions, but she's on some different frequency. I wish you good luck and successful results.

@@Nikasio I totally agree, my wife and I had our sleeves down the same day, by the same surgeon. She eats all kinds of things that I wouldn't dream of, or even could if I wanted to, like bread, Desserts, etc... I would be in a world of pain if I are a slice of bread, let alone a sandwich. We are both doing well, but while my blood work was great, she had Iron and Vitamin deficiencies. I take my supliments religiously, like I used to have to take my diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol meds. (I'm off all of them, now, btw). She never had to take regular medications for chronic diseases, so she's not used to following orders now for Vitamins and supliments.

But, I still love her, she is my everything, and I don't care if she doesn't lose as much weight as I do, I will always love her the same!

God bless. You seem to have your heart is in the right place. My reaction to putting a tiny piece of bread in my mouth has switch from must have to disgust. At first I didn't believe my dietician when she told me that some people become disgusted with their problem foods (sugar, wheat, and caffeine) after surgery, but the skinny woman was so right. I am also off all my medications. You make a very good point. It must be more challenging for someone who didn't have to take medication several times a day and measure their blood sugar and blood pressure. I can now walk by a plate of Cookies and not sneak a half dozen of them.

But this is a good reminder to all of us who have had bariatric surgery that our weight loss affects our loved ones too, and we need to be sensitive to their emotional needs as well.

For months a friend of mine has been trying to convince her husband to get sleeved. Two weeks after I got sleeved she was pushing him even more. Somehow one of her friends got it in her head that he might leave her or start cheating if he loses weight. Now that I am four weeks into this, he is all for it and she is not.

My girlfriend has now gotten so paranoid I have to let her check my phone...which is full of mostly her messages.

When she comes over she checks my apartment for the presence of other women. I am so tempted to buy a sexy teddy just to plant it in my apartment, but the thought of being overpowered and killed by someone a hundred pounds heavier than me stops me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
