Dentist appointment?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I was sleeved 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I have got a dentist appointment in 2 days time for a quite deep filling which requires an injection to numb the gum. I was wondering if I would be ok to go, or if I should put it off. I know I probably wont get any infections but I am just worried incase anything could happen to cause me problems. I am still on a full liquid diet for the next 2 weeks. What would you do?? :-S

I would ask your surgeon to tell you what to do.

Yes, ask your bariatrician or surgeon. A cavity is an infection that can easily travel to your newly operated sleeve. I'm surprised you weren't required to fix the cavity before surgery. I had to get $2000 of dental work done before surgery, which prolonged my waiting period to 10 months.

I'm 4 months post-op and I just had two dental procedures recently. Can you take pills? If you can, start taking antibiotics before your procedure to catch it beforehand. I was more concerned about not being able to eat so I drank Protein shots so I could at least get my Protein in for the day.

Thanks everyone. No i didnt have to have even a dental check before surgery! My appointment is to get a crack in an old filling fixed so they need to take out all of whats in place there now and replace it. So its not a new cavity as such. Im only allowed liquid medication so would be unable to take anything unless they could give it to me in liquid form. Its just my luck for what seems like a straightforward appointment to turn into something that goes wrong! I just dont want to risk any infection. I will ring the hospital tomorrow and see what they suggest. Im still a little bruised on my left side too so this may a problem to me when my body tenses up scared stiff when I hear the dentist drill ????. Haha.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
