SURGERY 9 FEBRUARY 2015

Recommended Posts

Good Morning,

I can not believe my revision surgery is tomorrow. I am excited but, kind of nervous. I am 47 years young but, I have 2 youngsters (12 and 6). I was very successful with the lap band until I developed an eye stroke and MGUS. Though I was told that there was no correlation between the band and these conditions, I started thinking that a foreign appliance in me was concerning. So, I had the Fluid removed from band and instantly started gaining. Also, when I tried to have Fluid placed back in back, I could never get the correct restriction.

I did not do so well on the pre op. My diet was quite liberal. Just Protein and veggies. Yesterday, I had 1 piece of chicken but, fried. And, also had a piece of cake early in the week. Other than that, not too bad.

Please send prayers up to the Big Guy upstairs!! I will post tomorrow. This time I plan to take pictures and measurements. I will post my admittance picture tomorrow morning!

Thanks everyone!!

Brigette

Surgery went well. Been up walking this morning and am pretty sore after. Only used the pain pump three or so times during the night and am trying not to use it now.

TMI alert: having a problem with urinary incontinence. I've peed myself several times because it doesn't feel like I have to go. Maybe because of the catheter during surgery?

Anyway, hope all is well with the feb 9thers! Sending healing thoughts your way!

@@whirlwen I hope you can get the incontinence under control!! I've been constipated. I feel Ike if I could use the bathroom it would do a lot to alleviate the gas pains

Okay, more TMI--the urinary incontinence disappeared a few hours after the last post I made, which was fabulous, but now I am constipated. I find that any time I take a drink, I get gas pains and have to walk them off. They are more annoying than painful, but I think they would improve if I could have a bowel movement. I will call the surgeon tomorrow if I am still having issues.

Other than that, things are going quite well and I am not having much pain. I am having a hard time figuring out when or if I'm hungry and then again when I am full. I imagine it will just be something I will learn with time.

Hope all is well with the rest of you and please keep us up to date on your progress!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
