South Jersey area sleeve buddies

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm looking for a sleeve support buddy in the south jersey area. I'm getting sleeved on February 9th so I'm still quite new to the process. Having a tough time with the temptations during this liquid pre-op phase. The most I've "cheated" is having progresso 99% fat free vegetable Soup a couple of days for dinner. Luckily I am still consistently losing daily. I'm at work now surrounded by people who are chowing down on Thai food and meatball subs. It's torture really. I would love to have a buddy/mentor to keep me motivated and on task, and to just go through the process with me in general.

Nor would I. There are so many people outside the Bariatric surgery community who just don't understand my decision to get sleeved

I am not doing too bad. It is definitely a struggle to get through this stage of the diet so I suggest get as much variety as you can. The more flavors you can offer yourself the better it will be. It's a rough two weeks, but I have been losing a consistent pound a day so I just keep focus on that. Also once you are up to it, occupy your time. I made the mistake of just laying around watching TV the first week which made it drag out so long. This week I intend to get out of the house and do things.

Yes sooo true! No one has said anything rude to my face but my hubs told 2 of the ladies where he works (who know me and I am friendly with. I really wish he hadn't) But anyhow they said "she should really try to loose weight in other ways first!!" DUH I cant believe I never thought of that!! lol

Good for you!! You are through the worst of it hopefully!!

I am trying to stock up on as much variety as the program will allow, I have also dedicated a small area in the kitchen cabinets for ONLY my things, I have gotten a bunch of cute tiny containers, small Water bottles, dishes, etc that I will enjoy using vs a huge glass or plate after surgery.

If I can figure out how to do a you tube video I am going to start doing that to try to help, inspire, inform others. Watching these videos that others have made has been so inspiring for me.

My mom and uncle said that to me just last night! "You're losing weight now without the surgery. Why don't you just diet and exercise instead of relying on surgery to help you lose. Also, when I explained that I want to lose weight to feel good about myself they said that I will still have a miserable self-image when I'm smaller. Really disheartening to hear 48 hours before surgery.

I think the YouTube videos are a great idea! I want to start photo journaling my progress. So far people have been commenting on their notice of my weight loss (about 30lbs since my first consultation 15 of which is from the preop diet) but I don't notice it. Maybe if I can show others the consist progression of weight loss and healthy living, they will see that bariatric surgery isn't the easy way out. It's the decision to change your lifestyle. They may even be inspired to have their own surgeries.

Don't listen, they are wrong!!! You are going to be so very proud of yourself when you do all it takes to change your life and your sense of self worth, only YOU can prove them wrong.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
