I'm not as far out as you guys. Only 7 months and 3 weeks.

But for those of you who have been trying the same things over and over, but those aren't sufficient for your needs, what could you do differently?

Are any of you in counseling / therapy? Support groups? Seeing a nutritionist and weighing in regularly? Tried gut flora therapy? Hypnosis? Affirmations? Hanging out with different people? Changing jobs?

Do you know what your triggers are? What times(s) of day and situations are associated with your eating lapses? Are you exercising? What kind? How much? How regularly?

Are you tracking your food? Eating more Protein? Less Protein? More carbs? Less carbs? What kinds of carbs?

I don't know what'll work for you, but if what you've been doing isn't working don't you want to do something different? Or more? Or less? But not the same thing over and over?

(Literally, guys ... I'm really asking, not telling. I'll be in maintenance very soon and trying to figure this out, too.)

One of my problems is that I can't exercise. I had back surgery which made my back problems worse and not better. I tried to exercise . Last week I was so happy to be back at the gym. Now this week I can barely walk. My back is really messed up. It's depressing that the one thing I really love to do has been taken away from me.

I know my problem is night time snacking. I am a night owl I stay up late. It's hard not to nibble and graze all evening long. It's hard but it's not impossible.

Hey @@Olarance75, Way to kick off a truly inspirational topic!!! Reading confessionals from people who have been struggling, but have successfully found a way to get it back under control is the best thing we can hear. And I'm glad to know that the sleeve can, in fact, be reset to its original usefulness. I'm heading into maintenance and this is the best news I could hear.... so thanks!

Hey @@Olarance75, In reading your posts, it strikes me that you may not be getting enough sustenance for your program to remain viable for very long. Looks like you're not getting enough Protein or calories to continue to resist temptation. If necessary, drink another shake (or two). Keep the Water going, try to get your Protein above 70 grams, and your calories above 800. And stay away from all starches/sugars. And, as you said in a post, after 3 days you'll be able to resist them more easily. Good luck, we wish you great success!!!!!

I would love to join a reset group! I had my baby and am trying to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and then continue on towards my ultimate goal.

I have been sooooo close to my goal weight and have messed with going up/down by 3 lbs for months! So depressing to hover so close and yet be so far away from where I know I should be for a healthy BMI. All your posts here are encouraging me to get off my butt and get back on my Protein / Water regime.... That is how I lost the weight initially and I have let myself fall in to very bad habits that include too many carbs and surgar. I know my tummy tolerates anything now and the grazing is doing me no good. I have 15 lbs to lose. I am going to restart in the morning. Back to nutribullet fruit/veggie/protein smoothies and high protein meals. I know that if others can do it, so can I !!!!!!!! I do know that tracking my food intake is crucial to my success. I will get back to that accountably as well. Thanks everyone for being honest about your struggles and providing your helpful tips and hints and supporting advice. I love this group!

I too am in reset mode. I am 18months out and never hit goal. About 40 lbs away. I want so badly to remove some of this extra skin but I know that the docs won't consider me until I'm closer to my goal weight. I too am a grazer (and I enjoy some wine too much on occasion). I will share that I restarted based on some of the things I have read on the threads - currently doing the 5 Day Pouch Test to reset my tool. I'm in day two - and even lost 2.6 lbs on my first day!!! We can do this ... We have each other!!

PS - Paris is awesome so that June trip is going to be great!! I adore France!

@wifey I'm hungry all the time too. I'm 24 months out and after being programmed for the last couple of years to each 4-5 times a day. I feel like eating is all I do! I started prepping my food and freezing pre-portioned out so I can stick to better choices. I also have been upping my fluids in lieu of food.

Are those of you who feel hungry taking anti acid medications such as Prilosec or Nexium? Acid in our sleeved stomachs mimics hunger. I am 18 mos out and still take Prilosec everyday. If I don't, I feel constant "hunger."

I am 16 months out. I never made goal I still need to lose 40 pounds . My lowest weight was 173 in August. I had gained weight and was at 187 at my dr. Visit last week. Needless to say my surgeon challenged me to lose 10 pounds in two months. Told him I thouj my sleeve was broken. Turns out I have been grazing. I kept saying few snack won't hurt me. They have killed me and Im so mad at myself. I'm going to Paris in June and want to look fab.

This week went back to basics and have lost 6 pounds since monday. I have gone back to basics as everyone on here suggested and it works. 1 Protein shake in morning , greek yogurt for lunch. Lean Protein for snack when get home from work. Additional lean protein around 7 pm. Also have gotten in all my Water something I never did before. Keeping my carbs at 20 grams and my protein at 90. I am so grateful. That I have this forum to see that I'm not alone on this journey

Thank you so much for sharing! I too am planning to "reset" my sleeve but I can't get past my hunger! It's amazing to me how that feeling of satiety quickly went away after 8 months of being sleeved! Which is more successful? The 5day pouch test or the 5:2 reset?

Does anyone know, how long it takes for Medicare to approve surgery?

I think it depends entirely on what guidelines you're being referred under. I had that kind of insurance through the state as a low-income person for 10 years and even though I was over 400 lb for 10 years they denied me. All based on the fact that I did not have diabetes. I switched insurances once I was offered a different kind of coverage from work and was approved within two months

I got a little bag of samples when I saw the nutritionist last week. Turns out I much prefer the Celebrate 45 Tropical Twist vitamins to the Bariatric Fusion orange flavor, so I've placed an order for those and the sweet treat assortment of calcium soft chews, which were almost dangerously tasty. The Unjury chicken soup was better than the other brand I tried, but not enough to buy it. And their vanilla shake was vile. I just can't do artificial sweeteners, and probably not vanilla unless I add something to it to mask the flavor. The aftertaste was so strong and I had a vague impression of drinking baby formula. So far the only ones I've really liked have been the orange and peach flavored Syntrax Nectar Naturals, so I'm going to get two vegan fruit flavored options in case I have trouble with whey after.

PS: Also, the 'My Surgery' section of my profile - how do you edit/update that section??  I want to put my height, weight, etc. there but can't find edit button.
Can someone help me with that?
      Thanks in advance.

I'm new here and unsure how to reply/respond to people. Guess I'll figure it out, or maybe you can help me a lil. lol.  A lil direction would be nice.
I'm still wrapping my head around having this surgery to lose weight. I have completed all requirements, in 2022, and now it's a waiting game.  I missed a call in Aug. to have the surgery. 1st call I have missed in years and it had to be THAT one!   I was so upset at myself and then fell back back that weekend to my ol' comfort food; ice cream.  I fall from time to time but then get backup on my Johnny Wayne Saddle and do better.
I have been waiting so long I forgot what the specific surgery is called. 🤔.  It's the one where my stomach will look like a banana.  I just want this done so I can be on my way to a healthier and more active person, and hopefully feel physically and mentally better and better sleep too. We'll see.
Wishing everyone a safe and successful surgery.

Has anyone messaged you and helped?

If you go to the top of the page and click on your user name there will be a drop down that will allow you to do things from there. The interface on this site is a little wonky and could use some improvement, basically, you'll kinda have to click around until you find what you want to edit/update.

I tried adding stuff to my albums and it uploaded the same things twice and I can not delete the duplicated picture. If you add a ticker and later you want to update it, like you lost more weight or you're closer to a certain goal, you have to go through the whole ticker choosing process again. The site can be a little frustrating.

you dont have to go through the whole ticker thing again. Just click on your name then surgery then click on progress. There you can change your height and weight. The weight will carry over to the ticker

        Thank You @NCL04321

Today was my 1 month followup, 5 weeks post surgery. My dietician gave me a gold star review for my post op diet, and I graduated to Stage 4 of my program. Stage 5 should be approved in November, and that is the forever way of eating.
I had to go to a post op nutrition class as part of my appointment today. There was a young lady in there that had been eating WAY off diet, and she was not doing well... She had been eating fast food, but peeling the buns off, eating vegetables that were not well-cooked, and eating all kinds of foods that were not part of the detailed instruction that everyone in this program receives. We had SO many caveats from Day One to not try to jump ahead on the schedule for the foods that we eat. I was baffled that someone would decide to eat off program, especially so soon after surgery. She became tired of the liquids & soft foods, so she chose to eat ahead.
The result of her skipping ahead was that she had experienced a lot of vomiting & foamies, a lot of pain, and was unable to drink any fluids. She started feeling flushed and faint in class and had to be sent to the hospital to get some IV fluids.
The discipline that one needs for bariatric surgery cannot be overstated. We have to dig deep mentally and physically to get through surgery itself, learn new things, manage medications, and really lean into that crucial change of mindset and behavior. I hope that this young lady is able to get herself together to make the most of her surgery.

Great post. Thank you for the insight/update. So happy to hear you are doing so well. Keep up the good work.

I am still waiting for my surgery...though classes were completed 9/2022. I don't like the waiting game. But I will say that my 'surgery buddy' mentioned this site and am happy I'm hear and hope to gain support and insight for my surgery.
