16 days preop diet consisting of 3 high Protein Shakes and leafy green veggies. Optifast was NOT on my approved list of shakes. It has more sugar than Protein. I used Syntrax Matrix and nectar, Unjury, Premier Protein, Muscle Milk and Raw Protein products. If your surgeon doesn't give you specific instructions, read labels and look for products with at least 20g protein and less than 5g carb.

I will have 1 week of Protein shakes and Water or crystal lite or sugar free popsicles. It's winter, so not so interested in making popsicles. But I bought some pretty yummy Protein powder from Syntrax Nectar- The Cookies n Cream and the fuzzy Navel are super duper!

Everyone is told different things, like i said I had Optifast protien shakes for 6 weeks before surgery and I have had not one problem with my protien before or since the surgery , so I think you should just follow the advice given by your surgen as you will find out on here everyone has an opinion and everyone thinks they are right :-)

Yup! Your surgeon will give you the instructions they want you to follow prior to surgery. There will be no guessing. They will make sure you understand the instructions. :)

The two weeks before surgery my diet consisted of Protein Shakes and Soup broths. I was also allowed one Protein Bar a day, but i didn't really like them so i didn't bother.

I am drinking Ensure Active three times a day, two to three sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello, Tomato Soup, low fat cream of chicken Soup, low fat broccoli cheese soup, dannon light and fit vanilla yogurt, sugar free pudding, and occasionally low sodium vegetable broth or chicken broth...the Soups, yogurts, and puddings can only be one of them two to three times a day...also 60-80 oz of Water. I am on a two week preop diet and not allowed solids

Boost high Protein or boost glucose control

Ensure muscle health

Slim fast optima

Carnation instant Breakfast essentials no sugar added

Or the homemade rice Protein Shake

I agree with jessiegirl30 your surgeon will advise you on what's best for your needs some of us have issues that need to be addressed b4 surgery so some diets b4 are different. March 30th nervous and excited

Today is day 1 of my 2 week pre-op diet. I have to complete 2 weeks of 3 powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein shakes daily and 3 high Protein, low calorie, low sugar, low carb meals. They gave me a list of item that I can eat.

It's not as bad as I was expecting and it's all for a good reason. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
