OMG patty, if you listen to Glenn Beck and you believe him, no wonder you have the political opinions that you do. Don't you know that he says openly that he is not a news reporter? He's simply an entertainer. He doesn't profess to do anything but bring personal emotion and controversy to the table simply in an effort to entertain.

Of course Rush Limbaugh has said something like that before too. And people still listen to him and lap up what he says like a kitten to milk.

Colin Powell was the Republican heir apparent to run for political office because he had done such a superior job and was so highly regarded. He said he didn't want to run for office so they used him as a scapegoat and hung him out to dry. People who had the utmost respect for him still hoped he would run but he continued to refuse to be a candidate.

The day he endorsed Obama was glorious. Of course the Republicans claimed that he only supported Obama because of race. They never cease to amaze do they?

loserbob, you're right Bush did not discuss anything with Democrats when he was in office. He didn't have to. Most of the time the Republicans dominated congress. So, unlike many of his predecessors, he didn't have to bother "reaching across the aisle" to accomplish whatever he wanted to. And on the few occasions he did speak to the entire assembly, he misspoke or misrepresented or outright lied. So Bush's administration operated a little differently than some of the previous administrations that had to work with the opposition party in order to get something done. And that's why we now have a Democratic president and congress.

He should have gotten the death penalty. He outright confessed to the murder and even went so far as to say he would do it again. He has no regrets.

A new poll from Research 2000, sponsored by DailyKos more or less with the goal of making Republicans look extreme, does a pretty good job of that.

What's the old saying? Stereotypes exist because they're true?

One has to wonder if Republicans really believe that Obama stole the election, was born in Kenya, and that all non-Christians are going to hell. Naw, it couldn't be.

Kos and Research 2000 polled a couple thousand self-identified Republicans and gave them some potentially mythbusting questions. Granted, several of the questions are loaded, and Kos himself may be reading too much into the "undecided" pool, but the results are nonetheless startling. Some marquee moments:

• 53 percent believe Sarah Palin is more qualified to be president than Barack Obama; 13 percent disagreed.

• 23 percent want their state to secede from the United States; 58 percent didn't.

• Only 8 percent said that openly gay individuals should be allowed to teach in public schools; 73 percent are against it.

• While 42 percent are convinced Obama was born in the United States, 36 percent aren't.

• 67 percent said that the only way to get to heaven was through Jesus Christ; 15 percent said one could also do that through another faith.

"Given what their base demands," publisher Markos Moulitsas write, "and this poll illustrates them perfectly, it's no wonder the GOP is the party of no."

Conservative? That's not conservative... that's extremism. That's actually sick, inhumane and disgusting.

That rag calls Democrats "communist tyrants" and you consider that real NEWS reporting?

You read it and watch Glenn Beck because you LKE what they say. You want to believe that racist, extremist clap-trap. Much of what they say is without any merit at all and yet you embrace it and repeat it. How fundamentally useless in uniting people for a better America.

Here is my question for the Republican party.

There have been at least 800,000 abortions each year since 1969 (when www.cdc.gov started tracking these things), at least 52% of these women live below poverty level (also found on www.cdc.gov). If I understand correctly your party is not in favor on any financial government assistance, so my question is: What happens to these babies once they are born? That is 400,000 babies per year on Medicaid, food stamps, HUD, etc. I am not smart enough to do the math but how many more is that to help? How are we going to afford that? Or are they just "precious souls" when they are in the mother then they are "a drain on the economy" when we have to help raise them?

I would love for our country to no longer need abortion. But just to stop giving abortions is simplistic and unrealistic.

Because some human being might put a strain on finances for others, we should kill them? WOW! What about those human beings who don't get aborted and grow up and become something in this world and make great contributions to society? Who says that all the abortions that are performed would have been children that will be a 'drain' on the economy?

Well, giving up her baby for adoption (providing it's a healthy white infant - because that's the only demand) would be the first choice.

But most women are poor and they keep their babies. So, they are supposed to work at least two minimum wage jobs while going to community college or taking the Red Cross's CNA program for $800. They should be able to save enough money for this during their 9 months of pregnancy (of course they don't have any other children who need childcare).

They are to find an apartment for $100/week (these require roommates, but I'm sure there are plenty who want a poor, pregnant woman or screaming infant).

Then after they become a CNA they take more training and work their way up to $14/hour at which point they can surely save money for a down payment on a nice house. They just have to make sure they don't spend money on things like cable, big screen tvs, and expensive cars.

Childcare while they are doing on this is a little less clear. But surely there are tons of in-home child care along the bus lines (that they must live near in that $100/week apartment) that offer childcare for someone making minimum wage.

So, you see, it's all very easy. THIS IS THE CONSERVATIVE/REPUBLICAN/PATTYGREEN PLAN!!!

Thankyou for your kindness towards me. I apppreciate it because I am usually the lone ranger on many issues, and not respected because I differ in my opinions. I didn't get angry with you at all for anything you posted. I simply had something that I wanted to post that was an abortion issue, so I changed the subject by putting in that reminder. Of course we can vere off onto any topic we want to. I don't have any qualms about that at all. We all seem to talk on many different threads together, so it is understandable that these different topics intertwine, and I'm okay with it.

As for Bush helping me, I can't say that the federal government helps me much. Maybe the break in my taxes for my children brought down my annual income that was to be taxed, but I think we've always had that, and we had 7 of our 10 children to claim until they became adults. My husband and I do very well financially. I thank God for our blessings. So, I don't know how Bush has helped me personally. I can see how He added to our national debt. And I can see how Obama is doing more of the same, even worse than Bush did.

I want you to know that I respect your differing views as well.

I listen to Glenn Beck alot. I agree with him most of the time, and that is why I continue to listen to him, as well as most of America. He may be a little flighty or robust in his delivery, but it is still MY opinion that he brings forth, so I like him. You'll notice that MSNBC's ratings have plummeted and it is because of their far, far, left liberal views on controversial issues. I am a registered republican, but I am going to change to an independent voter. The only thing is voting in the primaries. As an independent, I'm not sure if you can vote for those running republican or democratic. Do you know?

I can vote for the main election, Obama-Mccain but not when it was Hillary against Obama or Romney against Mccain.
