Need suggestions on liquids....

Recommended Posts

Hey there---I was banded on May 23, 2007 and am on the "full" liquid stage until Friday the 1st of June when I can start introducing soft solids. I am looking for some menu suggestions. I have been eating creamy Soups (tomato, cream of potato, anything without chunks), Jello, pudding, yogurts and I am getting sick of them! I am looking for any other ideas anyone may have. I found chocolate malt-o-meal, praise be to God. :( But I am just craving something different. Can anyone help me? :)

Melanie

Wow, Melanie, I'm not sure what else there is--maybe some Slim-fast or other drinks like that--at least that way you could get some different flavors. I also drank carnation instant Breakfast drinks. Stay away from milk shakes, though--too many empty calories. One other thing I did was chili blended up in the blender so that it is smooth--that is good for Protein. Once you get to mushies, try oatmeal, cream of wheat, scrambled eggs. I have a magic bullet and it is great for mushing up stuff like chicken salad or tuna salad. Baked potatoes were good on mushies too. Good luck!

I have been making a delicious shake using lite chocolate soy milk and carnation instant breakfast. You may also add malted milk powder if desired. Use a cup of soy milk with one packet of instant breakfast and 4 or 5 ice cubes. Blend from 45 to 60 seconds and you have a delicious, nutritious chocolate shake. I have been experimenting with shakes in anticipation of my surgery and this is the best so far.

have you tried chocolate shake with banana & bio natural youghurt liquidized with ice cubes. If you leave it 2 stand 4 10 minuets it goes like a thick mousse. I was banded on 26th MAY & also eat icepops by the dozen, they help with the sore mouth.

Hello Melanie, welcome to LBT, take a while and look around, there is tons of good information here. For example there is an entire forum dedicated to food and recipes (how cool is that?). In that forum there is an entire thread dedicated to liquid stage foods. Here's a link to the forum:

I hope this helps.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
