  1. Welcome & congratulations on your impending life changing surgery. I share your fear as I have deep set veins & the nurses & even anaethetists took 4 attempts to get my IV in. I know its easy for me to say as been banded 11 months now but if you can see past the needle to your new you then it makes the thought a lot more promising. Good Luck Paula
  2. Hiya, I dont take Vitamins in tablet form but do drink Multivitamin juice. Goes down easily & no heartburn. I have been banded 11 months now & lost 56 pounds & went through a stage where my hair & skin were crappy. I did try the evervescent Vitamin C that my surgeon gave me but it just made me gag. Sounds crude but the juice serves its purpose in more ways than one as since banded I cannot digest fruit. Good luck with your ckoice Paula
  3. U must be Psychic, I am having the same, but was told that post surgery pre-fill is just like not having a band there coz theres no restriction. The changes happen when the band is filled, hopefully xx
  4. Hi, I am from Worcester. I was banded 26th May 2007 in Birmingham. xx
  5. I was worried too about lifting as I look after my 8 month old nephew twice a week. I didnt lift him for a week but found if i lifted from my tummy not my chest, if you understand what i mean, then i didnt pull my wounds. The hoovering is still a problem as i tend to twist. Try & do a trial lift, i did with a buggy, to know how much & how long you can stay upright. Good luk xx
  6. Hi, I was banded on 26th May 2007 with a BMI of 30.7. I have lost 18 pounds since & will have to wait for my first fill end of July to get any restriction. I didnt think my consultant would agree to do it but he did. Please bear in mind I am a self pay & it has cost 8000 which has included all fills, diet plan, advice & 24 hour bariatric nurse assistance for a year.
  7. Funny you say that, i'm the same, I am 10 days post op & my nurse said as I heal v well & feel v settled I can try some mushies, in moderation, I immediately went back to the shakes & yoghurt after trying a bit of Pea & Ham soup!! Must be psychological but i am airing on the side of caution xx
  8. Peppermint tea & a hot bath to soak ure lower tummy, never thowt it would work but itr really really does!!! I suffered between 2-6 days post op to the point i cud barely stand up. 10 days post op now & not even a rumble!! xx
  9. I waited 2 days n that was only coz i cudnt move properly with the trapped wind, Hmm thats attractive!!. You have to be a little careful of positioning, if you know what i mean. I cudnt bare my husband to lie on me coz my scars were sore, but hey, where there a will, theres a way, hee hee.
  10. Dont let him make you feel like that, his loss not ures!! U are doing wonderfully well & I would b so chuffed to lose 28 ounds, thats a massive acheivement. As for the binge, its gonna happen sooner or later but what a massive difference your binge would have made to a pre-band binge. Keep smiling, men come & go, you choose who you want to keep!! xx
  11. I was banded on 26th May & my port is still swollen, I agree totally with Jachut, the chances of any damage are minimal as you would have brought back everything & been in terrible pain, but i would fess up to your surgeon & see what he/she says. I too am struggling on liquids but too scared to eat normal food & to be honest dont feel hungry enough for anything except a youhurt, mousse or soup xx

  13. My port is sticky out, I was banded on 26th May & my nurse says its normal as can stay swollen for a long time. Mine is placed high up nearly under my boobs & when i breathe in its like something out of Alien!!! Happy with my Alien tho xx
  14. Miso Soup is like a stock based soup. I have vegetarian & vegan friends who use it regularly as a soup or to add to other meakls. No lumps or floating food in it. completely safe xx
  15. Hi Audree, I was banded on 26th May 2007 with a BMI of 30.7 which is usually unheard of in England but i did have contributing factors. Its wonderful to see everyones progress & massive amounts of weight they have lost. My loss will not be massive in pounds but will be massive to me. Thank you for reaching out - its a lifeline amongst the liquid diet, wind, ports hole & over all crappiness feeling - but I know its gonna be worth it. Paula xx
