@@kclessofme I would say my swelling seemed to stick around for about 5-10 days total. It really started going down during that range, and I'd say it was pretty much down by day 10. I would say to walk as much as you can tolerate to keep that blood flowing and get rid of any excess gas you may have as well. You have plenty of time before your new job. Congrats, btw on the surgery and the new job! Best of luck to you!

Even before surgery I never wore baggy. I prefer my clothes to be fitted. I dint mean two sizes too small, just like for my clothes to hug my curves. I've always had an hourglass shape, so I'm hoping to keep it as I get smaller.

I have struggled with this as well. It's frustrating to buy fitted clothes that look good, then have them become shapeless on you within a few weeks. Such a waste of money! I used to never wear dresses to work, but they have become my go-to work wear. They can go through several size changes before they become too large and can be belted, or worn with a jacket, cardigan or shrug to give them more definition. At the same time, I like to have one fitted outfit at each size, because nothing helps keep me motivated as much as hearing one of those "You look great/small/thin/etc." comments from a co-worker. I've gone from a size 22 to a size 14 since June. Ebay has helped me keep things affordable, especially since I've been able to sell a lot of the things from my closet that I never got around to wearing when I was bigger.

It's tough when you are losing quickly and flying down through the sizes. I had to keep up a wardrobe that fit well because of my professional position, but didn't want to spend a fortune until I got to a more stable size, so I tried a few things. First I found a good resale shop that specializes in nicer clothes. I could keep my wardrobe up for work for way cheaper this way and a lot of the times the clothes still had tags on them. Secondly I found that I could get away with them for longer in skirts as opposed to pants. In pants you can tell right away when they are baggy. Skirts you can wear a bit longer. Good luck and enjoy the new you!

another thing I found super helpful was dress clips (muffin clips are a good substitute). You can use them to cinch in a blouse or top or dress to fit better when it's getting to big!

I don't like the swimming look. Makes people notice the loss more in my life. So, Old Nave and Loft were my friends. I spent a lot of money as I lost, but I looked kind of crazy otherwise.

I am still wearing the clothes at 58 pounds down and it is really ok- they are big and I am ok with that! That being said- I have several sizes in my closet and am starting to go into them. I also have bought a few new jackets/blazers for layering as I have to look professional in my job also. I have to admit, this is a great problem to have :)

I'm three weeks away from my surgery but I JUST asked my mother this same question Sunday when the outfit I had on was way too big. I'm on my second week of the pre op diet and I don't know how much I lost last week but what I do know is that the 3x top I got for Christmas fits me like I had on my 400 pound uncle's shirt and the pants, that 6 weeks ago were so tight I thought I was going to split them with every step, are now almost falling off. I'll be in the thrift store before surgery if this keeps up! I'm not mad though :D

Add me to the Goodwill list. We have a lot of different charity thrift shops here. I like knowing that not only am I getting a great deal but my money is going to help out some good causes. I've spent enough time at the different places in town that I know when each of them has their sale days and I can make it out the door with LOTS of nice stuff for next to nothing. My husband has finally gotten close enough to goal that we're starting to buy him some brand new stuff, but I'll be a Goodwill shopper for quite a while yet!

Thrift stores and Clothes Mentor if you have one near you. They will also buy your clothes so you can buy more in smaller sizes

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
