Protein shakes

Recommended Posts

I'm pre-op scheduled for the 28th. I just tried my first Protein Shake and it was DISGUSTING! I tasted a strawberries and cream Muscle Milk. From what I hear, it's one of the better tasting ones. I don't know how I'm going to be able to do this. My question is this.... Has anyone been able to get their Protein in without the shakes? Any suggestions for alternatives?

Not gonna lie, it is hard. After surgery, your taste buds will probably change anyway. Everyone says to get the unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and add it to Soup and shakes. I haven't tried it but I drink the Muscle Milk. It isn't as bad to me as some of the others. They have some Isopure drinks at GNC that are in glass bottles kind of like Gatorade. They are Clear liquids. I have tried the apple melon and it is good. That may be an option. I think it has 20 grams Protein. Good luck!

Nope. I am almost 17 months post op and usually have 1 Protein shake or drink per day. It's a quick and easy way to do low carb high Protein. Try Premier Protein. I also like Atkins Advantage either the caramel or mocha latte. I also really like chike coffee flavored. Another go-to for me is BariWise protein hot chocolate. It tastes delicious. You can't even tell it's a protein product

Try GENEPRO. You can get it on Amazon. It is unflavored, you can mix it with anything. Even HOT. you only use a Tbsp to get 30g Protein so it doesn't make your drinks thick or change the texture of your food. I have put it in mashed potatoes, cr of wheat, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.

My favorite is: 10-12 ounces of unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1Tbsp GenePro

1tsp instant coffee

2tsp unsweetened baking cocoa

2 pkgs Stevia

I can't stand those thick drinks, yuck. But this is yummy, I have one everyday.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
