December sleevers How are you all doing ?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 12/14, doing OK. Lost 28 Ibs so far, but its been slow since last week or so like 1/2 lb a day, but I am fine with it. Started work and tolerated. Have trouble reaching Protein and Fluid goal. Taking yogurt, skim milk, eggs, fish, cheese, lentil Soup. Wasted money on many different flavours of Protein shakes but can't take any. Lately have stopped adding to any food. Have started on Fortimeal, which has 20G Protein in one can, taste is OK but does give me diarrhea. I take one daily and its more like when I want my bowels to move.

Started exercising since a week, but only 15-20 minutes and walk 4-5 km. Get muscle aches pretty quickly.

I was sleeved 12/16 and doing well. My incisions are healing nicely and I am able to be fairly active. I plan on getting back into the gym this coming week. My HW was 322, SW 300, and this morning I weighed in at 277. Overall loss of 45 lbs and 23 of that since surgery. I feel like my loss is slow, but I'm thrilled to be losing at all. So far, I've gone down a pant size and a full shoe size. I just packed up 2 bags of clothes that are already too big to be donated. ????

this is wonderful news! My starting weight was 335.8 and 322 exactly, my surgery is scheduled for the 17th.. Plz keep us posted!!!

Sleeved on 12/30. Down 30lbs overall. Really struggling to get Protein in, the shakes are just too sickeningly sweet. My surgeon still has me on full liquids (not even yogurt) for 6 more days.

Wow. Things are changing sooooo fast. I know this can't go on forever, but I will eat it up as long as it last!! Last Sunday night I went to Walmart to get me a couple of cheap temporary pants. Went to goodwill, but the did not have any 30" in length. I started this journey wearing 48" waist. They were getting too big to belt up and they were literally falling off!! I was able go fit into 42" waist!!! Walking around with the family today, I noticed that these are now getting loose. It has only been week. Feels great!!!

You're not alone. I was sleeved on the 29th and I still have two more weeks of liquids.

I was sleeved on 12/29 and have lost 23 pounds since surgery. I started my soft food diet yesterday. It's going very well. Still learning to eat slow and giving my stomach a chance to tell me that it's full before it's too late. Luckly I haven't gotten sick. I seem to getting most of my Protein and a good portion of fluids. Timing is key! I went for my 2 week checkup yesterday (1/12/15). Incisions look great and they were super excited that I lost that much weight. I suppose to go back in 4 weeks but will be out of town 2 weeks in a row in February. So...it'll be a 6 week checkup. Doctor did say to stay between 600-800 calories a day. I started walking on the treadmill last week and felt good. Lets see if I can continue putting up big numbers and staying focused.

I had my surgery 12/30 and so far I'm great! I'm down 24 pounds and on th e pureed food. I made a mistake and had cottage cheese and also tried chili. I did well with it however, it felt really heavy in my stomach for a long time. I think I'm jumping ahead to fast and really need to stick to just pureed food. I can finally sleep on either side and on my stomach! My only issue is getting all that Water in. Anyone care to share what they eat during the pureed stage?

I was sleeved 12/31.. At my 1 week post op I was down 12lbs, but I haven't weighed since. I'll weigh again on the 21st.

Feeling really good though! Finally lol! Haven't slipped up once, and I have 8 more days of liquids. I'll be real happy when I get to the mushy stage!

I was having SUPER bad cravings, but in the last 2 days they are seeming to go away. Thank. God.

Sleeve was 12/22/14. I don't know how much I am down since I left the hospital but I can tell just by how loose my clothes are that I've lost a lot of weight. I also started solid foods this past Sunday which was a good and bad thing. I wasn't getting in much Protein so I've gone back to the shakes for sure for now. I need to get an unflavored Protein mix that I can also put into other stuff like yogurt that way I can get that count up. As for solid Proteins right now seafood seems to be the only thing I can get down and actually keep down at the moment besides eggs. I have tried chicken twice and turkey (turkey Breakfast sausage) and found myself unfortunately puking it up. I will try those again in a few weeks. Right now I will stick to what I know works and not try to rush things.

The mental aspect of this is indeed rough. To help with the solid food I have been giving myself 12 minutes between bites of food. That seems to help out a whole lot tonight. I was actually able to get about 5 bites of fish down doing this and for the first time in almost a month I actually felt full.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
