I'm 20 days from surgery day, and starting to get very nervous. I stumbled on this website looking for tips, and help in what to expect after surgery. Life after surgery is what i'm scared of. Learning how to live again scares me. I've had almost 40 years of not making the right choices, how do i learn to make the right one?

Cheers,

Carrie

I found a lot of inspiration and helpful tips on this website. Also there are a TON of vloggers on youtube that document their journeys, the good and the bad. I found those soo helpful. There are a few vloggers that had their surgery years ago and so those are really inspirational to see their journey from the beginning to now. Good luck!! =)

Today was discouraging. I started running, and have been steady running everyday for the last month. I haven't been on the scale since the last time I was in the physicians office, and was going to wait until I went in on the 13th. I broke down and stepped on the scale, and I haven't lost a pound. Not one. before I started I couldn't run down the block, but now I'm up to at least 2 miles a run... and I've lost nothing.

That is awesome you are running! I can't even try to run without feeling like I'm gonna break a hip. heh Do not let it derail you or keep you down. I know that some days I weigh more than others, I've had days that I've had a 5-10 lb fluctuation, and it's usually Water weight. So maybe you are really down on weight, but carrying some extra Water on the day you happened to weigh in. Whatever it is, just keep up the great work!

Rule number 1 - the scale is not your friend. Stay away! Early in the weight loss journey the body will hold on to every calorie. Do not let that discourage you. Look for non scale victories. Can you move easier? Have you taken your measurements? Are they smaller? How are your eating habits? Have you cut back? Are you eating too much processed food? You can;t exercise away a bad diet.

You make this journey like the rest of us, one day at a time, one meal at a time.

Welcome to the boards.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
