Tomorrow is the day!

Recommended Posts

I can't believe that my surgery day is here. I am mostly excited and a bit of nervous worries. I hate IVs and I as m changing my body for the rest of my live. But change is for the better, right?!?! I have not cheated once on my preop diet. I lost 12.8 pounds this past week. I felt better than I have felt in a long long time.

I check in the hospital at 5:30 AM tomorrow. I will post as soon as I can after.

Cheers to a new me, you and 2015!

Yesterday wasn't too bad. Today has been a bit more painful but so far I am keeping my fluids down nicely and my new pouch seems to be sore but doing ok. I get to go home soon!

Good for you, surgery buddy! Today has been a lot of ups and downs but it looks like I'll be able to go home tonight after dinner. So excited to sleep in my own bed!

I did get discharged last night about 7pm, and the first night home was really rough. Definitely the worst so far. But I'm up and around and doing well this morning, and at least I finally got some sleep.

@@anaxila, I got out at 5. It was a horrible night last night too. Way harder at home than the hospital. I had to sleep in a recliner because I couldn't lay flat on my bed. But today seems better. I did get lots of sleep last night. I am moving slow but getting around well. I have no interest in food but I will get my Protein Shakes down just to get the Protein in. We did it!

We did it!

That we did! How are you doing today? I had a bit of a rough spot when I drank too fast, but that was 15 minutes of good education on what NOT to do. I was having lots of gas issues (gurgling, burbling, making funny noises), but the spouse went out for gas-x and I was a million times better almost immediately. This evening has been really great - making some food, doing dishes, feeling almost normal. The pain is always there, particularly when I inhale deeply, but I'm still able to do so much more than I would have guessed when I was a puddled up weepy mess on Wednesday night. My body's capacity for healing feels miraculous today.

I got discharged last night, and I'm a tummy sleeper so at the hospital I could only sleep on my side so last night I slept on my tummy n was kinda sore. Today I just rested n got my fluids in. Can't wait to feel like my self again:)

Today felt like a big turn around for me. The last two nights have been really hard. I woke up last night dry heaving because of the gas. I got gas-x today too and it has helped greatly. I no longer need any pain meds. Yes I am still sore but today I was able to nap on my side, my preferred way to sleep. Tomorrow my goal is to start walking, not just around the house. I actually put on real clothes today. I have no appetite at all. I am struggling getting in enough fluids. One odd side effect for me has been a heightened sense of smell. I smell EVERYTHING like crazy. My family will eat away from me and I can smell each item on their plate.

Cheers to us! We did it girl! Now we just need to get over this hump and it will be great.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
