Passport questions. Anyone use one of the RUSH passport services or just go to Mexico with birth certificate?

I need to go in 3 weeks. I live in CA and I know there are these companies that can get your passport for you in 24 hours, or 7-10 days etc.

I'd like to know of an recommendations thanks!

Yea you can actually go to your local passport office and request and expedited passport card or book and it can get back to you within a week. I did not even request that and received mine within a week. You can not cross back in to the united states with a birth certificate. It is not possible because I have a family member who tried and was just not possible. Good luck!

Since when do you need a birth certificate to cross back if you have a passport? That's ridiculous

You don't. I think Veronica was saying her relative only had a birth certificate and not a passport and was summarily denied entrance.

I dont believe you are allowed to use birth cert anymore

You are correct you need a passport card or book to travel across the border. I had a relative who did not have either and could not pass over the border with their birth certificate in hand only !

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I will definitely get a passport before I go. Can't find my birth certificate either - so just applied for that! UGH

@@HBMoose I had to do that before my honeymoon to Mexico. Had to get the state of Indiana to send my birth certificate then go to the posy office and deal with that level of hell for my passport. My local PO branch in Chicago doesn't have a camera that works so we had to go to Walgreen's and pay them to take our pictures. But once that was all sorted, the passports came in a week, unexpedited.

I hope I don't have any problems. My coordinator said I only needed my DL and birth certificate. She said many people go with out it. I don't know if that is true but that is what she said.

My sister renewed her passport (with the expedited fee) and got it back in 7 days!! I applied for mine, never had one, and it took 10 days (with the expedited fee) but we are very HAPPY with the quick service! Going to Mexico Jan 22nd.

Good Luck "trulyamazingtoo" - I hope your co-coordinator is right about not needing one! I have heard it's not a good risk to take as you could get stuck in Mexico.

Yeah ik @@HBMoose ...I have been thinking about that. That wouldn't be good

There are people who do it...I just didn't want the extra stress and my coordinator and Dr. didn't want to chance it either.
