Getting sleeved tomorrow at 8am and sitting here trying to make sure everything is order for my return home. Does anyone have any ideas for thing they wish they had done the night before their big day?

Good luck tomorrow!! We will see you on the loser's bench soon! Make sure you have everything you will need out on the counter so you don't have to try reaching for stuff. Wash bedding because there is nothing like coming home from the stinky hospital and cuddling up with freshly laundered blankets.

I can only tell you what really helped me.

1. No matter how nervous you get tomorrow waiting to go into surgery, don't let your fear win! Remember you made this decision when you were very rational. You researched this decision and went through a lot to prepare for surgery. Last minute nerves are just nerves, not a reason to cancel surgery.

2. Sip constantly. You likely will be unable to meet your Protein goals and/or your liquid goals for the first week or so. You need to not get freaked out about that, just keep trying. Just keep sipping and try to keep yourself hydrated enough to prevent being readmitted. It will take a lot of conscious effort to get in the bare minimum amounts of fluids in each day.

3. Keep walking! It won't be pleasant at first and it will hurt a bit. That is ok, it gets better the more you do it. Walk as much as you can because it really will make you feel better and help you heal faster.

4. Have a great and comfy recliner at home for the first few days. Laying flat isn't the most comfortable position. My recliner saved me and was my nest for a few days.

5. Don't bring too much stuff to the hospital. You really won't use much of anything. I used: my phone, charger, extension cord, heating pad, Vaseline for my lips, toothbrush, toothpaste, and Biotine mouthwash. That is it.

Please keep us updated and we will see you on the other side!

Did they give you any problems bringing the gas-x strips into the hospital? I keep getting mixed messages on if they will allow it or not.

Made it through ok, leak tested and released today. I am a lot more sore than I expected to be, but no big sharp pains. The sipping is probably the worst part so far. The more I try to sip the more air I end up ingesting.

If you go really slow on the inhaler machine you won't get any air in your stomach. It is actually fairly important that you use that machine because people on narcotics tend to take shallow breaths and that forces you to take more natural deep breaths so your lungs can clear themselves out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
