I am just past 6 weeks and I never feel hungry. I eat only because I know I need to get those 3 tiny Protein meals in and a couple of Protein shakes to make up the difference.

It seems thought that no matter what I eat (single egg cheese omelet, 2 or 3 oz of deli turkey, Beans, etc.) it just seems to sit heavy on my stomach. I take small bites, chew, chew, chew.

Water, unless I add a flavoring to it now, sits heavy.

For anyone else who's been through these feelings, do you remember how long this lasted?

I'm actually looking forward to the day when I feel hungry again.

Are you taking a PPI. Often it's the build up of acids in your tummy that give you that heavy feeling. Try prilosec, the generic omeprazaloe. I take 40mg of omeprazaloe in the morning and that usually gets me through the day. if not I take 2 tums chewables.< /p>

I can't really drink Water, so about three weeks after surgery I started drinking whatever I wanted just so I could get enough Fluid in. I also used a straw which made it much easier to drink and I haven't had any hydration problems since. At 15 months out there are still plenty of times where I feel like my Protein is sitting like a pile of rocks in my stomach, just beneath my esophagus. I reassure myself that this means my sleeve is working. :)

You will want to eat again soon, but if you're lucky hunger won't come back as badly as before. I now am very intolerant of being hungry, like I get STARVING, then I have two bites, and I'm completely satisfied. Before, I could go awhile without food but then I would eat a ton. Tonight I'm traveling for the holidays so we ran into the only place that was open. I got like $15 in food, but in the end I ate a few crackers with hummus, and put the rest away for another time.

Most people though have no problem eating normally again in a few months or a year, so I try to enjoy the days where I'm not hungry because I know I will make up for it another time.

Good luck!

I honestly hope to never be very hungry again. My actual hunger, nor head hunger, has ruled my life.

I am 3.5 months out. I never get hungry but I do know if I have gone too long without nourishment as I start feeling weak. Some nuts or a Protein Shake and I'm good again.

Thanks for all the responses.

@BLERDgirl I am taking the Prilosec OTC. I did just get some Wal-mart brand equivalent of Mylanta for the really bad times. Haven't used it yet, will see if that helps.

@@AvaFern it's funny about you saying you bought about $15 then only ate a few crackers with hummus. I've ordered a few things in the past when I knew I had to eat, taken a few bites and I was full. Eyes sometimes still bigger than the pouch. Looking forward to see how much better things get as time goes on.

@@JCP I get the same way, I try to keep from feeling that way, so I try to stay on a schedule to eat.

I didn't feel any hunger for about 3 months. Now if I go more than 5-6 hours I'll feel a bit light-headed. I also am experiencing some head-hunger due to stress, but the overall true physical hunger is nothing like it was pre-op. I look forward to eating and I savor the food I eat and then I'm done. I'm eating 5-6 small meals (4 oz weighed out) throughout the day and I feel great!

Many people have stated that their hunger comes back in full force after six months to a year, whereas others have stated it comes back, but to a much lesser degree. I'm afraid, like many things sleeve-related, your mileage may vary. :)

I enjoy not being hungry. It actually very satisfying because I am not thinking about food all day long. I don't want eat because I am bored. I eat because I realize I am getting weak and it's time to grab some energy. Food is fuel now and now a hobby that I do when I am bored.

I was told not to use a straw to drink with because you can trap air in your stomach which is painful but also takes up space.... But double check that with your dietician. I've thrown all my straws and Water containers that use straws out.

My body has finally got its own schedule. I eat every 3 hours. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and a few healthy Snacks. Otherwise I feel extremely weak and my vision goes blurry. It's crazy. My meals are not large at all, I have my designated little bowl for my meals, and have my Snacks available (if I choose to have one). I take a soft cooler to work and keep it in the fridge. Then I have plenty of options for breakfast/lunch snacks.

Prior to this is I wasn't hungry, and had to MAKE myself eat.

A friend of mine, who is just thin by nature would always tell me when we went out she had to eat every three hours or she felt sick. I could not relate until now. Now I get it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
