Any December 30th Sleevers ?!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on December 30th and was glad to run across this thread. Love to read other people's experiences that are around the same stage as me. The first week and a half after surgery for me was rough, a lot of pain and also had the unexpected death of my dad three days after my surgery. food has always been my comfort in stressful situations, so in one of the most stressful events in my life I had to find new ways to cope. All is well now, I'm physically feeling better than I have in years. My weight the day of surgery was 255 and this morning I'm 234. I haven't had any problems with nausea, getting Water or Protein down, or intolerance to any foods. I can pretty much eat anything (of course avoiding breads, rice, sugar) and tolerate it. There are still days or moments when I look at my husbands plate and wish I could enjoy a plate of food but it doesn't take long for that to pass. I am thankful for this tool and will not take it for granted

@@Big_Mama I have no idea what type of pain it is. I just know it comes in waves and when I'm not even eating. I am gonna call someone right now, because today is the 4th day. I can tolerate pain but, to be safe.

@@Alesha34 welcome to the 30th thread and I was sleeved on the 30th as well. First, I am very sorry for the loss of your father. That must have been tough 3 days after? Wow. I hope you are okay now and doing well with your sleeve.

@@bellabill Yes it was a very rough 3 days but doing well now. I was down 21 lbs this morning. Haven't had any problems at all. I am making sure I measure out everything because I feel like I could probably eat more that I should.

Have any of you tried bread? I was recently cleared to have toast but I haven't done it yet. I was afraid because I heard it doesn't go well after surgery. I was offered a biscuit today. I used to love biscuits but I was afraid to try it so I threw it away! Have any of you tried a biscuit yet? If so how did it go?

I have had some whole grain crackers but no bread or biscuits.. I was told it's ok to have maybe a wheat tortilla or something like that but avoid bread. I would especially avoid biscuits.

I've tried just about everything. I tried a few bites of a sandwich recently and found out bread is still a no-no for my sleeve. I've been able to tolerate one cracker per meal.

How is everyone doing so far? 2 months now! I have had some trial and errors. Sometimes I go over my 800 calorie a day...needing to tighten the reins. Managing Proteins and Water can be a challenge! I hope I am not the only one?

You are not the only one. Like they told us it is a tool but we still have to manage our Protein, drink enough Water, and use our limited stomach space for protein. Sometimes I have gone over 800 not too bad 1,000 once nothing like the amounts I could eat pre surgery. I also have to try to disipline myself to eat whats good for me instead of what I want sometimes. I hope I'm not the only one but I do get hungry for things I shouldn't have and my sleeve tolerates most foods well. I'm grateful that I still have to eat small quantities.

I am trying to curb the grazing. A taste of this and that can lead to other bad habits. It's not always so I am being cautious of what goes in my mouth. Thank God for the fitness pal which really helps with regulating calories. I am also getting back into weighing my meat.. 4 oz can easily become 6--8 oz.

Has anyone tried raw veggies yet? I've been eating a decent amount of cooked vegetables, but I can't remember what the rule is about raw?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
