Any December 30th Sleevers ?!

Recommended Posts

  • Alrighty. It's been 4 days without seeing much change on the scale. I've stalked the bulletin boards enough to have read about the mysterious 3 week stall but didn't expect it at 2.... At first I thought it was because things weren't moving through and Miralax and prune juice assured me that wasn't the problem. I started looking for more "sciency" reasons other than some magic weight loss elf taking the 3rd week off. This is the best sciency reason I could find.
  • I found this http://bariatricfacts.org/threads/the-three-week-stall.743/ - A nice lady named Diana Cox wrote that:

A "stall" at this point is inevitable, and here is why.

Our bodies use glycogen for short term energy storage. Glycogen is not very soluble, but it is stored in our muscles for quick energy -- one pound of glycogen requires 4 lbs of Water to keep it soluble, and the average glycogen storage capacity is about 2 lbs. So, when you are not getting in enough food, your body turns first to stored glycogen, which is easy to break down for energy. And when you use up 2 lbs of glycogen, you also lose 8 lbs of Water that was used to store it -- voila -- the "easy" 10 lbs that most people lose in the first week of a diet.

As you stay in caloric deficit, however, your body starts to realize that this is not a short term problem. You start mobilizing fat from your adipose tissue and burning fat for energy. But your body also realizes that fat can't be used for short bursts of energy -- like, to outrun a sabertooth tiger. So, it starts converting some of the fat into glycogen, and rebuilding the glycogen stores. And as it puts back the 2 lbs of glycogen into the muscle, 8 lbs of water has to be stored with it to keep it soluble. So, even though you might still be LOSING energy content to your body, your weight will not go down or you might even GAIN for a while as you retain water to dissolve the glycogen that is being reformed and stored.

I was sleeved December 23rd. I can tolerate regular Water very well, but pink lemonade Crystal Light is AWESOME!!!! It's very difficult for me to eat 4oz at a time so i normally break up into 2 sittings. Went to first doc visit Monday and he said that is fine, but eventually will want to get to 3 meals a day and 2 Snacks.

Been doing well since surgery never any vomiting or nausea HOWEVER I have serious gas bubbles all the time in the esophagus or the sleeve? gets in way of my consumption whether liquid or food :-(

I don't know what to do to get the bubbles out of the way, they make me feel more full than I am. I can do tiny little burps only. I do gas x but it doesn't seem to help with this particular gas. ANY suggestions?

For all of you who are having gas bubbles, stomach pains, etc.. Have any of you been taking a PPI?

I went through having the same conditions and felt I could not eat and sometimes when I did, I vomited. After taking a PPI for the past two weeks it has made a remarkable change. Give this a try.

I have been taking Zegerid which is a capsule and it contains 20mg Omeprazole and 1100mg Sodium Bicabonate twice a day per my Surgeons recommendation. This brand PPI is pretty much instant and not a tablet time-released form like Prilosec.

Oh, btw PPI stands for Proton Pump Inhibitor.

Hi. I had my gastric sleeve on December 29th. I would love to be a part of this group. I have a question. I am at the soft foods and can now have tuna and baked fish. Is anyone experiencing stomach pain when eating. I think I am having stomach spasms. Thanks!

@Bell1980...I'm struggling with Constipation too. Actually, it was a problem for me even before surgery. Have you tried Miralax? I swear by it. I take a capful at night with some type of clear liquid. (1 1/2 if it's really bad) and by the next day I'm getting better.

I can't imagine. IMHO I think you need to need to talk to your doc. In the mean time I'd go back to broth only. I hope you get some relearn soon. Let me know. You can always message me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
