i'm thinking if I should get the sleeve or not I was told I would lose 100 pounds minimum being 110 is a little bit too skinny for me I was also told I would gain some weight back through out the first year ..is this sleeve the best option for me? I'm looking to lose 70 to 80 pounds

Who told you all that? I would love who ever it is that can predict such things to predict my outcome! Lol! Nobody can tell you for sure that you "WILL lose 100lbs"...you may but you may very well not! I wouldn't be to concerned about being 110 lbs you would have to actually get there first. As far as if the surgery is right for you personally, I don't know but if I were you I would spend a lot of time researching the sleeve in general. You could be very successful with it but don't take those numbers to heart! Good luck to you!

I was about 217 first visit. I am 5'4". However, I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and acid reflux. The reason I wanted the surgery, however, was because I have arthritis in both feet and one knee. I want to get my weight down to reduce pressure on my aching feet. You didn't mention your BMI but they usually require 40 but make exceptions for co-morbidities like the ones I named above. I was approved by my insurance easily.

I was 200lbs, I am 4'10" my BMI was 40. I am now 123lbs, BMI of just over 25.

You can lose 50 pounds, 80 pounds, 100 pounds......that all depends on you and how you eat after the surgery.

I'm 5 '1 and I was told that I would lose about 60% of my excess weight. My doctor told me it could be more but it depends on how much work I put into it.

It's difficult to answer the question regarding having the surgery. This is a decision you have to make after researching it thoroughly and having discussions with your surgeon.

I am very happy I chose the sleeve-no regrets.

Best of luck

My Dr told me I would most likely lose 75% of my excess body weight. I started out at 275 pounds. I am only 4'11.5. My BMI was 53!!! So 75% of 145 pounds of excess body weight. So close to 100 pounds. Of course anyone can exceed expectations. But they can also fall short. You still need to exercise, and make healthy eating choices.

I was 185 pounds and 5'1 and I was sleeved in September. Since the start of my pre-op diet I have lost 30 pounds (13 weeks). It's a tool to help you control your eating, it's not a guarantee you lose a certain number of pounds, and you don't automatically wake up and you're thin. Its work, just like a normal diet, it's a change of life, it's not a miracle but it's a damn great tool. I was told I would have lost more weight by now, and it didn't happen, so don't rely on things people say as to how much you'll lose, everyone is different, and every body will lose at a different rate. You might only lose 50 pounds, you might lose more. Even thou I haven't lost as much as I would have liked by now, I haven't gained, and that is very important to me!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
