Which Weight Loss Surgery Is Right For Me?

Recommended Posts

So what's next? Will they remove the tumor and treat with meds?

The tumor is on only one adrenal gland so I will have surgery to remove that gland and will be on meds for a couple of months but my other adrenal gland should take over eventually and I will be able to get off of the meds once that happens.

I also now have bilateral pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in my lungs). These really hinder my oxygen intake as well as extreme chest pain. They're also causing pulmonary hypertension.

So sorry to read about your many health issues, and so young too. I'll def keep you in my prayers for the best possible outcomes.

I'm highly concerned for you. Dual pulmonary embolisms is by far the most serious issue you're facing,. Lung bloodclots (as you know having been diagnosed) suddenly dislodge, go straight to the heart & kill. Of all your issues, this is the most life-threatening and normally requires immediate medical intervention.

I'm shocked any surgeon would put you under general anesthesia with dual pulmonary embolisms (which posits a whole other set of risks that are compounded by your voluminous health issues), for another surgery, first.

What' did your doctor say about it? How are you being treated for this ailment? Have you considered a 2nd opinion regarding what should be taken care of first?

Maybe my info is outdated & there's newer treatments for this life-threatening disease that I'm unaware of.

I was diagnosed with the embolisms in the beginning of September and have been on blood thinners since which have reduced the clots 30% though by now, they should have dissolved and have not which is why the pulmonary hypertension is coming into play. My doctor believes that my weight has something to do with this.

Many of my current health issues stem from my being obese which is a side effect of Cushing's. I cannt lose the weight with this disease, at least not the amount I need to be healthy again which is why the adrenalectomy is being talked about. I would not have this surgery until the summer most likely unless my tumor begins to grow exponentially which could cause kidney damage at the least. After the surgery, I will most likely be on blood thinners for another year if not longer. Hopefully by the summer my clots will have dissolved.

The "diagnosis" was given to me by my PCM so he is giving my a referral to an endocrinologist which will basically be a specialized 2nd opinion. I've also done a lot of research and really the only treatment for this is radiation or surgery and I'd much rather have the surgery.

Thank your for informing me. I'm glad your lung-clots have already been reduced by 30%. Like you, I hope they're gone by summer so you can have your adrenal-tumor removed.

What an ordeal. Oof! Kudos to you, girl! I know you're going to nail this- one step at a time.

Sounds like you've done your research & have, with your doctors, derived a sound plan for ultimately achieving good health.

That is my sincere wish & prayer for you. The best possible outcomes that will ensure a healthy, happy, long life. <3

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
