Yup. Right on the snoot.

Do you ever swing by southern France? We have a house right on the beach in Narbonne-plage. Wouldn't it be a hoot to "beach-it" together? We rent it out during the really sunny times, but try to get over there 1 - 2 times/year. If you have a second, check out No. 7 Promenade . That's us.

I've always wanted to tour Ireland, but with these stupid/deceptive airfare taxes/fuel tariffs (aka increased ticket prices that the airlines are too chicken s!@t list in the basic ticket price) it's getting harder and harder to just jump the big pond on a whim.

Car - Where do you live (i'm old I forget:p) Your place in France is beautiful - what's the conversion from eruos to dollars - would love to stay a week in France - but i don't know french - except please thank you and the word Sh*t :biggrin1:

Hi, All,

I'm doing great and pleased with this first fill. I'm not getting too hungry, feel full after a small amount. Could probably stand to be a bit tighter, but go back Oct. 8th for another adjustment.

Chim... I don't know how you can work that many hours!! You must have a lot of stamina!!

Ruby... You're doing great with the exercise... congrats on outlasting the skinnies!!

IndioGirl (Janet).. you, too! Doing great with the exercise! I'll ask about a west coast cruise next time I talk to that travel agent. I didn't like the Holland America prices on the Alaska cruise in August. $1100--1200+. That's no air fare. Too much. Norwegian goes out of Seattle, too, and a lot less, but probably would have to be May/early June or September.

Jackie.. glad things are going better for you.

Denise... hang in there... it will get better.

Dini... glad to have you back. We miss you when you're among the missing.

Marcy... that WAS an impressive anniversary celebration your hubby cooked up!!

Donna... WELCOME.

Okay... that's all the names I can remember for now. I'm old, don't forget! Compared to most of you, anyway!!

:D

Dini- Our electric company will estimate our bills sometime in the summer when the meter readers are on vacation - Well think about it I live in the DESERT HOT SUMMER - and they will estimate low - and then the next month have a $400 bill just for electric.. I can't beleive your whole staff just up and quit... Glad to hear that you & Adam are getting on better. I think I missed my calling - I should have been a counsler or motivational speaker (imho) - It's just too bad that it's easier to give advice than follow it :phanvan. I am a person who tells it like it is (i think you are that way too :biggrin1: .

who do these people think they are eh?? my bill was over 600$$ i felt like going on and saying i'm a single mom ect... but whats the point its not like they care is it!!! customer care over there is very questionable in some places

Hi group!

Just a little update... The big incision that was not wanting to heal is finally healing! The doctor prescribed a weeks worth of antibiotic just as a precaution but it seemed to have sped up the healing process.

I had my very first fill Monday. He stuck me once, filled me with saline, sat me up and I took a sip of Water and the water just sat there and didn't go down. So, I laid back down and he stuck me again and let some saline out and the water in my throat literally gurgled and went down! So, I sat up and took another sip of water and it went down fine. I was surprised that the whole process wasn't that painful. The thought of a needle going in my stomach area freaks me out though.

As of today, I don't feel that much restriction really. I have been eating Soups and soft stuff and today was my first day of normal food and although I eat less than before, it's still eat more than a cup or so of food. I guess I expected there to be a lot of restriction and my eating portions to be very small. Perhaps my fill hasn't really kicked in yet?

Me too, the first few days I was too scared to eat actually. I was afraid of PBing, sliming, having the golf ball feeling, so I just had Soups. Now, almost a week later, I'm beginning to test my band....and so far, no bad experiences yet. I kind of wished I had more restriction. I may call the doctor's office and ask about my restriction and see if this is normal that I'm not feeling that restricted.

Ruby, Way to go with outlasting the other girls on the treadmill!

All, I'm a little depressed. After Lynette got her surgery paid, I decided to go ahead and submit my hospital, surgeon, and anesthesiologist bills with a letter stating my case. No response, but I checked on line today and they listed the hospital as "requesting additional info" and the suregon as not covered. But, not only did they list the surgeon's bill, they'd added other appts to it that they'd already paid. So, I'm afraid they are going to get their payments back and dr's office will be looking to me. Hopefully, if that is the case, they'll settle for me just paying the amount they'd gotten originally from the insurance company.

Brandy

Is your doctor covered under your plan?? Good luck on getting it paid

I got the insurance claim info sheet yesterday for the hospital - 7/17 to 7/19 $64,000 - can you beleive that - Insurance paid $3500 - i gotta pay $300 - the rest is in the twighlight zone - that make no friggin sense - The hospital knows that the insurance is only going to pay $3500 why do they bill $64,000 give me a friggen break... that is TOTALLY out there - I really beleive our health medical system needs some great overhaul..

I finally got myself out of bed early this a.m. and walked for about 30 minutes at the track with my daughter. It felt great to finally get moving - although I was a little droopy today at times. I'm going to "try" to crawl out of bed again to walk Friday - wish it was more fun! Kim

Gonna be kind of long trying to describe...

Eating after surgery (after about 4wks or so)- no difference than before surgery. Still eating large quantities and able to eat anything I wanted.

Eating after 1st fill - a tiny difference. Still able to eat anything. Noticing maybe a not eating quite as much, quantity wise.

Eating after 2nd fill (2 wks ago) - I still can eat way more than 1 cup but I do need to eat much, much slower and take smaller bites.

I am assuming just because I have to eat slower that doesn't mean I have restriction. I think I am getting there and maybe with the next fill or two I will see a difference. Does that make sense??

Does anyone understand what I am asking? I am kind of working this out as I type. I guess I feel like, it may be hard to eat some stuff and after the first fill I didn't have that problem, but I still feel that eventhough I have to eat slow it's still too much. Is anyone else in this same boat????

ANOTHER THING, I get so darn hungry at night. :hungry: You know like from a couple of hours after dinner until I go to bed. I always need a snack or 2. Anyone else have that problem???

To anyone who takes the time to read this and respond, I thank you :D. I know it is kind of long.

Hello to all,

I have been MIA for since Monday. Going through some very emotional things, while trying to keep up with work and family life. I had my first fill on Monday. All went well. I was on liquids for the 24-48 hrs (I did about a day and a half), then mushies now solids today. I actually pb'd-today on chicken. I have some restriction (in the sense that I know that I am having to chew alot more thorough or its getting stuck...I still am having trouble with knowing when to stop.

I havent read all I have missed so I am going to go and do some of that now, and the rest in the morning.

Ok. :car:So today I ran out to the bank and figured I would bring the kids back box of munchkins (I had 5 kids total today - 2 mine and 3 from my best friend).

So...I figure I will have a few myself. Along with my iced coffee of course. WELL. Tonight I went to the Dunkin' Donuts website to see just how many calories those little buggers have.

3 chocolate Munchkins - Calories 200

Fat 10g

Three little ole munchkins that many calories. Just goes to show if I am going to have them next time I better be sure I want that much fat and I better really savor them! :hungry:LOL!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
