OK, I finally broke down and bought me a great set of scales. My present set would weigh you 10 different weights if you stepped on and off of it 10 times. Enough is enough.... The scales are really cool. I kinda splurged but they were on sale so what the hey. These will tell you your weight (of course), BMI, Body Water percentage, Muscle mass percentage and Bone Mass. Just by stepping on them...hows that for cool?

Dini, Chim, Lynette- Who knows guys, you all may end up on the show.... Let us know and we will watch it :)

Sunny-Ain't those Protein smoothies just to die for? OMG, I just love them Sorry you overdid it.

Someone also mentioned that you could get those protein bullets at The Vitamin Shoppe....I will absolutely have to check that out...We have one here right across the street from smoothie King.

This is just Band Heaven now :whoo:

About the Protein shots...

I have always been told that your body can only absorb about 25 grams of protein at one time and that the excess protein just gets turned to fat. If that's true, I would only take 1/2 of the 42 gram protein bullet at one time.

I actually split it up throughout the whole day just like I do my Protein Shakes which result in 45 grams of protein each. I drink 1/3 in am 1/3 around noon and 1/3 in evening. Average recommended protein intake per day is 60 grams so still not really enough. But there really is no research basis for the 25 grams limit at a time. So until I see some evidence based research, I truely will not believe it. So far I have not found any. If anyone finds this please post because I would like to see it:)

I asked my dietician about this and she said that there has been a long-standing debate about this. So...I really didn't get a definitive answer from her. She said just aim to get my 50 grams throughout the day. So that's what I do.

OMG...I just got my new scales set up and weighed. I HAVE LOST 12LBS!!!!!!:whoo:

I really did not think the scales at the hospital were right. At least I did not believe them until now. But my scales weigh me the same.

That is unbelievable for me.....

Hello all......well, tomorrow is my big day!!!! Can I just say that I've asked myself over and over, "Am I doing the right thing?" I'm pretty sure it's my head telling me I'm scared.......yet excited!! I'm heading out to my sister's in Everett, which is near the surgery center I have to be at the following morning.

It's nice to come here and read all the encouraging posts, whether they are to me or not, because I see all the successes and want to be a success too!! Thanks a lot!! You are all my daily resource for information "Lapband"

You will be fine!!! These thoughts are completely normal, I was panicked and freaked out before surgery, all for no reason at all. I am fine, I feel great, and so will you. Good Luck!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Blueyedbaby

I'm a little hesitant to type your real name, we don't like to say that word down here. Plus the news is on right now, and there's a disturbance out yonder. So I can't type your real name, although it's quite lovely.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
