I'm back on track. Working out made an appointment with my trainer and working out with Wii and Wii Fit. If you don't have one it is so much fun.

It's good to see you back again ribearty. And you too Chim. I don't think I welcomed you back. How rude of me.

Tonight's class went better than I thought it would. I had trouble with backward rolls. The forward ones went okay, but my brain forgot where to put my limbs going backwards. At least I didn't hurt myself. Well..... not much. In between techniques we sit in seiza. Kind of like kneeling, but you sit back on your calves. Getting up and down from this position left me with slight burn marks on my knees. But that's my only complaint. It was so good getting back into things. My technique may be rusty, and I was pooped halfway through the class, but I felt I could get into positions a lot easier and quicker because I didn't have the extra 70lbs I carried around last year. YAY!

It's been a strange day. I woke up hungry. I had coffee and a Protein Shake. For lunch hubby and I went to a Mediterranean restaurant where I usually order a lamb shank. Today I had maybe 2 bites and felt things ball up in my stomach. So off to the bathroom to get rid of it. I stuck with drinking Water after that. But wouldn't you know that didn't want to stay down either. :) I came back home and around 3pm my usual hunger pangs kicked in. I didn't want to risk it so had another glass of water. I didn't PB, but it felt really uncomfortable; like my band had tightened up. So I had a cup of coffee instead and that helped.

After class tonight I was starving. The extra exercise and sweating probably meant I was a little on the dehydrated side as well. I wasn't going to risk eating anything, so had Soup for dinner and followed it with another Protein Drink. It didn't fill me up, but it satisfied me enough not to feel hungry. So all in all, a good and positive day. :) I just hope I have the strength and energy for my trainer session tomorrow.

I'm feeling the effects of last night's aikido class this morning. :svengo:I certainly did plenty of core work. My lower back, hips and abs are tired today. It was tough work on the treadmill this morning as a result of that. It actually felt like hard work.

I hope I have the energy to meet with the trainer this evening. Right now it's a daunting thought. We'll just have to see how my day goes.

Last night while flossing my teeth, I popped out one of my crowns. :Dancing_sad: I had trouble with it a few months ago coming out as well. My dentist said at the time if it happened again he'd fit a new one. So I have an appointment to see him this morning. Maybe when I come home from there I'll take a nap. :cursing:

Will check back in later. Don't forget to drink your fill today ladies. :biggrin2:

Ruby

I find that my band tightens after exercise (all that rolling around) also if I have pants that are a little snug in the waist - it seems to affect my band.

70 lbs - FANTASTIC :thumbup: - makes you think how did I get around before :cursing:

Let us know how the trainer thing goes and how much $$ - I would like to know

Good Morning Gang

What's up....

Not much here - just at work - wishing I wasn't :Dancing_sad:

Univentful evening - gym, dinner - tv - bed - same old stuff.

Well gotta get in gear - I will CBL:biggrin:

My XDH stopped by the office today right before lunch - I had told him I needed my toilet fixed so we went to the house and he fixed it - I asked him if he wanted a sandwich - he said you got stuff to make a sandwich since you don't eat anymore - I said I eat - I made us turkey ham sandwiches on lite bread w/2% cheese

Then we we got back to the office he told me I was too skinny - I said how in the hell is 153 too skinny - he said oh you weight that - you look like you weight 120 - I love my xdh today :angry::lol:

Kari

Ya - it was pretty cool - and yesterday at they gym the girl and guy who always work the counter remembered my # without me saying is and then they said you want to take a new picture...

Since they see me so much they really haven't noticed the weight loss but they really looked at my 1st pic when I joined last July and they complemented me on my great weight loss.

And I kick the butt of the 28 yr old girl who works out with me - so I am feeling like the king of the world right now

Hi, All,

It's been sort of quiet here today. Wed. is always a busy day for us... Primetimers at church and then we usually go to costco. I haven't really felt up to par today. I have had NO episodes of PBing since surgery, a few times of feeling "stuck" and one episode of sliming. Well, today at lunch, if I'd had only what they'd fixed for today, I would have been fine. But there was some chicken leftover from last week... looked nice and moist, BBQed, so I took a small piece of a thigh along with this hamburger stew they had made. Chicken is often not my friend and I should have known better. Then may have eaten it too fast. So then I couldn't finish my other stuff and was soon in a lot of pain and feeling extremely uncomfortable. Had to go hang out in the bathroom "just in case" two times. Did some sliming but nothing else ever came up. It was a miserable experience and left me feeling kind of drained the rest of the day. And, seemed to trigger shoulder pain that felt like that post-op shoulder pain so many of us had. In fact, that was really the worst of it because it didn't go away until tonight.

Anyway, enough of that! Early tomorrow morning we are driving up towards the Canadian border. DD & SIL gave us a whale watching cruise for Christmas and we're going tomorrow. We added two nights in Victoria BC, so we won't be back until Saturday evening. Our poor cat won't know what happened to us! We bought two new umbrellas for this trip!! Weather forecast does not look good! Hope we see some whales and not too much rain!

OH, baby week in our family!!

After 5 grandsons in 6 years, one of my sisters finally got a granddaughter yesterday.

And today SIL's daughter (our step-granddaughter)

had her 2nd baby girl.

Hey Phyl

Have fun whale watching and hope no rain - Congrats on GD's

Our bands are funny things - I had a sandwich for lunch no problems yesterday (toast light bread) dinner my usual fish and was so full.

After a pbing or stuck episode it takes away and desire to eat

Well, not much to report - today was my weigh in day - maintained at 153 (I think - scale would say 152.5 then 153 then 152.5 and then 153 4th time) so I must be just a tad off 152.5 - Happy with this.

Well just cking in this morning = yep very quite yesterday - now you and Karri both gone - it's going to be even more quite

Well as usual cbl.

I am sure you'll see lots of whales off of Vancouver Island... what a super gift you have received!!! 30 years ago DH and I lived in Victoria (snif, snif  ) It was beautiful in B.C. and I miss the ocean.

I was sorry to hear about your chicken episode, that is NOT fun, especially when you are OUT.

So there is good news, GREAT news, and well...to DH not so good news.

First good news! Doc cleared me for TT (I knew he would) and said that all of my nutritional testing is perfect!!!! Yeah!

Second great news! They are so excited about my weight loss that they are giving me a professional photo shoot in August in exchange for letting them use my pictures and story as a feature on their website, and the posters in their office. He was just thrilled and astonished at the amount of weight I have lost.

Okay not so great news. I am upping my calories YET AGAIN because I weighed in at 148 pounds at the doctor's office. Now...their scale is 2-3 pounds heavier than mine (which I consider official) That means that I could actually be as low as 145. That would make me at a normal BMI, but I really need to make the weightloss stop. I want to be at a stable weight for the next three weeks. So I am going to weigh in at home on Saturday (DH has to dig out the scale from its hiding place) and if I am at or below 148 we are upping the calories to 2000.

Well I am off to help at Senior Celebration...I get to be a "carnie" at the carnival. Then I need to run tonight (at least 4 miles...hopefully 5).

kARRI - 145...............I'm jealous. My goal is 150

Went up north with DH to see his cousin and I made him stop at the Outlet Mall on our way home since we drove right by it. Went to the Lane Bryant Outlet and got four new shirts. SIZE 14-16!!! Told my daughter and she told me she's never known me at that size. LOL But I can't get pants to fit right. Elastic waists that fit great.......butt, hips and thighs are huge!! Told DH i didn't think I would find pants to fit till I got rid of all that excess skin in my belly.

CONGRATULATIONS Phyll on the birth of those two grand daughters. What are their names?? Better watch out though, it is really fun to shop for little girls.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
