Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Peaches, I was scheduled for Sept 27th, but am travelling on Oct. 6 to Palm Springs, so didn't want to be too restricted. I return on Oct. 11, which was supposed to be my date for my 3rd fill. So I plan to reschedule my second fill for around Oct. 16th or so.

I will be going to TBLC as I don't have a family doc in London. My family doc is in Toronto (our lovely health care system eh?), so would be a trip either way.

When is the next Bandster luncheon? Which tread/website do you go on for that?

Kathy, I had an idea! If you get your FILL scheduled the same day as one of the Nutritional Seminars I am planning on going to those... we could meet up again.., what are your thoughts?

ONLY 38lbs? :) That's terrific weight loss! My advice would be to enjoy the rate in which the scales are going down for YOU and not be too concerned about someone else losing more or more quickly than you are. :)

Today has been a bad day. I am happy but frustrated have not lost anything in two weeks not sure why it has stopped. Maybe I am to impatient but was looking at all the threads and feeling worse about not losing. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

thanks

Aw beth. :)

We all have our bad days. Sometimes bad weeks. But you've come a long way. I've just had a week where I haven't lost anything either, and am going to see my doc on Friday for another fill. Perhaps that's what you need. My doctor told me that if my weight loss stopped or I gained, it was time for a fill. Perhaps give your doctor's office a call and see what they say? I still think you're doing really really well, and you should look at what you've already achieved with pride. :) You just need a little bit of a tweak to get you back on track. :D

Beth

Peaches lost like 40 lbs prior to being banded - so the 60 some odd pounds on her ticker aren't from being banded - she is combining her total weight loss.

Ya I went wow when I first saw that but the she explained,..

Beth

I am sorry that you haven't lost in 2 weeks.

So let's get down to WHY..

Are you eating enough or are you eating too much??

Are you making healthly good food choices or are you letting those bad habits slip back in just a little at a time?

Are you getting in all your Protein?

Do you log your food - I find this the most helpful thing for me.. Because its so easy to forget - the yogurt in the a.m. - the hand full of nuts in the after noon the 3 bites of something while you are cooking dinner. If you log and count calories then you might see what going on .

Are you getting your exercise in - and drinking your Water.< /strong>

Are you under some stress where you might be popping a few M&M at the office every day?? What's going on... What's the answers to these questions...

Do you have any restriction?? When do you go for a fill. I got my 1st fill on 9/5 and had restriction for about a week - but it's gone - i really watch what i eat but I do manage to get in 1000 - 1200 calories a day (my night time eating ugh hate it but can't stop it - have reduced it so maybe one day I will be able to stop it..)

Tell us what's up ... What's really up !!!! We are here for you always:girl_hug::)

I walked 5 miles in an hour yesterday and today I get in the scale and 2 lbs. are gone!

Exercise is totally the way to go. If you haven't started go ahead and do so, you will be glad you did.

:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2: Yep calorie reduction & exercise = 2 lbs GONE :clap2::clap2::clap2:

Congrats Cazulay.....

Thanks Indio!

The only it happened is because of the exercise, because I have lost restriction and am eating way more than I was 1 week ago. Oh well, as long as I am losing I guess.

Hi All:

I was wondering if anyone else was banded in July and still not filled. I'm so hungry! I'm hoping to get 1st fill on Wednesday, but I'm doubtful because of my conservative doctor. I've lost 6 pounds since I saw him two weeks ago, so my guess is that he still won't fill me. We'll see.

:help:Does anyone have any suggestions that I could use to try to convince him that I need to be filled, besides telling him I'm hungry?

I'd appreciate all of your input on this.

Thanks.

Sue Magoo

Peaches, great idea. I was thinking to go around Oct. 16th. I have to confirm some meetings, first though. When is your nutritional seminar? I was thinking sometime the week of Oct. 15 or the next week.

Hello all my fellow bandsters!!! I am just checking in for the night. I wanted to tell everyone congrats on all of your weight loss. We are all doing very very well.

I had another NSV last night and I needed to share it with you all because you will understand and my DH just looks at me like I was nuts. LOL

Last night we went to the movie hair Spray. (Excellent show by the way!!!) Anyway in the past when we have gone I have been so uncomfortable because of my size in the chairs and the person next to me, my DH or one of my kids, had to be uncomforatble as well because I always put my arms out on the chair arms to try to be more comfy and in the theatre that means taking their chair arms. I always felt like I was 'spilling over' into their seats. Last night when we went I was really excited but also nervous at the same time because of the past experiences. We went in and sat down and guess what................I HAD LOTS AND LOTS OF ROOM!!!!!!!!!!! I wasn't spilling into anyone elses seat and I could set cross legged while watching the movie. I COULDN'T believe it!!! :faint: I said something to my daughter and she smiled and said that is good and then I said something to my DH and he said 'we were never uncomfortable setting next to you." and looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about. Maybe he didn't and it was just me self consciously feeling that way. Whatever it was then I don't care because I CAN FIT FINE AND HAVE LOTS OF ROOM IN A MOVIE SEAT!!!! LOL

Sue. I guess I'd ask your doctor why not fill it? I mean, the whole purpose of the band is to lessen the hunger and allow you to feel satisfied with less. So you went through all the trouble to get it, why not use it? It's great that you lost six pounds in two weeks, but why do you have to wait till you regain that weight to be able to use your band for what it was designed to do?

Jackie--I get it and that's wonderful! Don't you just hate it when the chairs are too close together and you are touching someone else's arm? Thanks for sharing that NSV with us! Yeah

Dagnabbit I was typing and I lost it!!

Kathy - Loved the picture, beautiful family

Jackie - Congrats, we were never uncomfortable next to you....too sweet!

Sue Magoo to Dr. - If starving myself was easy or pleasant why would I have done this to myself? Fill it or I stay here until you do.

Congrats to all Losers!!!

Seems like I'm not losing on the scale, but I can feel a difference. Tight jeans now come on and off without unzipping.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
