@@KatieD6982, the malabsorption would also mean that you may experience difficulty absorbing nutrients from food, thus it increases the risk of nutritional deficiencies. Therefore, after surgery, ti will be important to follow your doctor's guidelines for nutritional supplementation (i.e., Vitamins, Calcium, Iron, etc.)

Yes. I plan on following the program to the letter. The thought of nutritional deficiencies is scary to me.

I would love to have the full bypass. Everything was going good for it till my doc saw that I had once had kidney stones. And didn't think it would be a good idea since that is a complication. She told me that in her experience that the sleeve and full bypass results in the same amount of weight loss. (I hope she is right) I didn't want to argue since things were going so smoothly. :D

Ok I have a question for yall.

I started my journey back in sept. Had a meeting with a nutritionist, a phys eval, a physical therapist, then I had my mandatory 90 day wait with weight checkups. Dec they sent the info to the insurance, month later got approved, got call with the date (Feb 4th), got another call for a phone pre-op class (next week), surgery is the following week.

They mailed me a packet yesterday that had info in it for after the surgery.

My question is this. Where you all told to do a pre diet?? There is nothing in my packet about this. Just the usual stuff about only liquids the day before , nothing after midnight. Start taking a stool softener a couple days ahead of time.

What exactly is your prediet?

Thanks

How's the lethargy today? I guess my dietician knew what she was talking about- no headache today (day three of pre-op diet)! I hope yours has left too.

My husband just got a sleep study last night and after having told me for months that he would NEVER use a CPAP, they titrated him because his sleep was so bad (50 minutes of stopped breathing in two hours) and he said he had the best sleep ever.

Man, I love a convert.

Much better! I think I have hit the "sweet spot" in this diet! No more headache, no more weariness. I actually thought I was getting sick for a few days there. But, now everything is going just fine. And, I haven't stepped on the scales yet, but I KNOW I have lost weight! The top roll under my boobs is much smaller! Had to snap my bra on the next set of hooks this morning! YAY!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
