Any February Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Ok I have totally been "nesting". I got a magic bullet for Xmas. Last weekend a bought a new George foremen grill. I ordered some injury Protein Powder & toriani sugar free syrups. Now I'm just waiting for my last supervised diet visit... Sigh

P.s. I switched to Decaf coffee too

I have been doing a lot of research on the supplements/vitamins they expect us to take post diet. The Nut is really pushing the Celebrate package of Vitamins at $245. I bought a Gummy multi with Fiber at Walmart, and some sublingual B-12. I did order the calcium chews and Iron chews from Celebrate, but only because I couldn't find them any where else. I am still under $100, and I have everything that is in the $245 Celebrate pack.

I ordered Bari Life. It tastes ok in cherry and orange flavors. You simply take 2 scoops per day in your Water, smoothie or whatever and it covers all your Vitamin and mineral needs. Super easy. It costs about $1 per day.

I got my date! February 2nd with Dr.Zavalza in Tijuana. ;) Such a great experience so far with him! We've Skyped and talked on the phone a few times. I can tell he really cares for his patients. Can't wait to meet him. :)

Yes, I have started the pre-op diet. It really isn't too bad, although I've had a headache for two days. The dietician said that should go away after three days.

I am dealing with the headache too. And lethargy! I just tumble around the house, no focus. I really feel for those that have to go to work everyday on the pre-op diet! Hang in there everyone!

Charlotte, you summed up my experience to a T! I have also decided not to tell anyone. I am going to Tijuana to have mine done and I just do not want to handle all the negative comments! I am set for the day after you, so lets keep in touch thru all this! Good luck and Enjoy that shake today!

Who is your doc in Mexico? I'm seeing Garcia.

Hi ladies, I think I'm getting CLOSE to getting my date!!! I had my ultrasound, surgery class, meeting with the Director of the Hospital Bariatric program, and a metabolic breathing test yesterday. According to my checklist I have to do my psych clearance-which is next Tues, one more lab test (stool sample...ugh) and my last appt which is now scheduled for Feb 11th! So, they will submit to insurance after that appt! I'm excited but I have to admit the nerves are REALLY kicking in. I'm praying for favor with the insurance company. I have struggled with the losing weight during the program, I go down, then up, down then up. I hope they don't deny me for that reason, I've done everything they require.

So, also-can I ask for some advice?

I was sort of thrown a little curve ball yesterday. This whole process I have been trying to work towards having the sleeve. I met with the BIG WIG of the Bariatric Program of my hospital yesterday. He told me that after reviewing my charts, progress, etc. that he recommends that I have the full bypass. He said that he has personally seen quite a few patients who don't succeed with the sleeve and eventually go on to have it revised to the bypass. I think I looked like a dear in headlights!!! Thankfully the surgery class was right afterwards so I got some questions answered about things I was worried about. FOR EXAMPLE-the malabsorption thing. It was explained to me like this. The malabsorption component means that my body would absorb less of the fats and sugars out of the foods I eat, thus resulting in better weight loss. It's not like it's going to cause HARM, it's a good thing...an extra bit of help. If I would eat, let's say, an oreo-full of sugar. I would have the dumping syndrome and probably bring it back up. It's an extra level of feedback that my body would have stating NOPE YOU CANT EAT THAT! Trust me, it won't take me long to not try to eat sugars and bad things if I'm throwing them up!! So even though it's a more complicated surgery, because of what the doctor reccomends, do I try for the sleeve or go-ahead with the full bypass?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
