A Week Out and Terrible Heartburn - HELP!

I got sleeved on Halloween, and over the past few days I've been having terrible heartburn.

Mio seems to exacerbate the problem, but I can't drink plain Water without feeling sick. This is causing me problems in getting in all my water every day.

Did anyone else have post-op heartburn? It's keeping me up at night and is just plain annoying. Is there anything I can do short of going on some kind of prescription? I'm using Tums now but they're not super helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Use the over the counter Prilosec

this is very common...could be you are eating too fast or what you are drinking has caffeine...etc etc etc...

Since you are not saying it's gas, walking won't help...

Call your doctor, tums alone may not do it at this stage, you may need prilosec or something... call him and get some help...this will pass ;)

My doctor in Mexico put me on nexium tablets not capsules

I'm not here with helpful advice, but I wanted to tell you that I hope you find some relief!!

Call your surgeon. I suffered for 2 weeks before I called mine. He told me there was too much acid and wrote a prescription for Protonix. After a week it did the trick.

I was discharged on generic Prilosec. My doctor recommends talking it for at least 60 days post op.

Yup, Protonix (Pantoprazole) did, and still does, the trick for me.

Wow i can relate so much ! i take Omeprazole same as Prilosec once a day and if ever i forget taking it then the pain is unbearable. I am 6 weeks out so i am not sure for how long i can take it for but it helped me a lot !!!

My doctor prescribed me Carafate. He said it "coats" the stomach and I may need to be on it for the rest of my life. I take it twice a day in addition to Omeprazol once a day. If I forget, my stomach reminds me - it's like I'm a fire-breathing dragon!

Zantac knocks it out for me!
