My surgeon promotes a diet high in veggies, fruit natural nuts, and Beans with little if any animal Protein.

All surgeons have different thoughts on nutrition.

I was already a Vegan before my RNY and I have had no problems at all getting in my Protein. I will never go back to being a meat eater. I feel amazing and lost 101 lbs before my RNY. Here is a list of high protein foods...Seitan 3 oz has 21 g protein, Black Beans 1 cup 15 g, chickpeas 1 cup 15 g, pinto beans 1 cup 15 g, tofu 4 oz 11 g. I could go on forever lol. And as for your Protein Shakes, Orgain Organic Protein Plant-Based powder, vanilla Bean is amazing and you can get it on Amazon. Most of the people that work in my WLS office have switched to using it :-)

I've been a vegetarian (no eggs or fish) for the past 30 years. Plenty of ways to get protein: tofu (I bake or saute it till it's crisp and using a dipping sauce of soy, ginger and rice wine), lentils (soup or curried), vegetarian chili (crumble tofu), chick pea salad, pea Soup, veggie burgers, etc. There's Protein bread, Protein Snacks (100 calories/pack and 19 grams of protein), high protein Cereal,( soy or milk based-- lf cottage cheese, lf cheese, nf yogurt, etc)

Protein is protein. The difference with some plant based Proteins is they can also be starches. In the case of Beans, a serving would count as one protein and one starch.

I have found that all those "crunchy" Snacks are so high in sodium and processed ingredients and the prices are pathetic! One would fair much better making your own IMO.

@@zsnaani If you have recipes or know where to find them, for high Protein Snacks please share????!

I've only tried Quest bbq chips in desperation for crunch. Pretty darn good! Sour cream and onion, pretty darn bad.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
