Psych Eval Hold Up

Recommended Posts

So I have everything ready to submit to insurance but the Psych Eval is holding it up. I had my Psych eval and MMPI test on 9/2 and the Dr. told me that she wasn’t going to hold up my surgery but that she was going to suggest that I see a counselor during this process for depression. I did not fight it and have been seeing a counselor at my work site every 2 weeks. I talked to my patient advocate and she told me that the Dr denied my psych clearance (which she said she wasn’t going to do). So I had to call and ask for a revision. I have been trying to do that for 2 weeks now. One week she was on vacation and then she had to catch up and now they just say they have no update but she will review it. I don’t know what the hold up is and her staff starts to give me attitude because I am getting frustrated. Does anyone know what they need for a revision or if there is something that I could do? This is the last thing I am waiting for and it’s causing me a lot of anxiety.

Is there another psychologist that your surgeon uses? Could you make another appointment to see the first one to try to clear everything up?

I think you should consider why you have been held up, you stated depression, and I think that is something very serious especially when you may have used food as an outlet for your depression. I say this because, that is what I have done in thr past and most people who have anxiety attacks and depression spells do the same. So I guess the question is, in the past couple of weeks has your depression changed?

The thing is I know depression and I am not there. I may be a little stressed right now (which this isn’t helping) but I am not depressed. We talked for a like 20 minutes and everything was going fine and then she got the results of the MMPI and it was over. She didn’t ask me any questions or anything she just kinda shut down after that. She started saying that she is worried that I am cutting myself off from the world (which I am not) and my family (which isn’t always a bad thing depending on the family). Even the counselor that I am seeing says that she doesn’t see that I am depressed.

I would try to make another appointment with her but her office is kind tough to make an appointment with.

She told me that she wasn’t going to deny me and she ended up doing it anyway and now after I did what she asked me to do she is dragging ass on making the revision.

That's a bummer to have to go through all those other tests and then at the end to find out that your psych wouldn't give you clearance. That is why I am getting all my tests done right now and out-of-the-way. my surgery is not until February 2015. I only have my EGD and my psych eval. I hope everything works out for you very soon!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
