My surgery is tomorrow...I'm so very anxious and all of a sudden I'm STARVED...I have been on the liquid diet for two weeks...I feel like stuffing my face...but I know I CAN'T!...Is this normal behavior and feelings before surgery?

Yes

The night before is very stressful. Tomorrow you are going to be changing everything. But don't fret, when you wake up from the surgery you won't be hungry at all.

Yes I see where you are coming from, I am terrified. Mine is booked for 4th November. my older sister keeps reminding me this is permanent not like the band you recently lost, this is for life, you can't have it reversed once it's done you can't change your mind etc my head is spinning and really registered to talk to veterans to get reassurance sorry but I sympathise with you and appreciate just how you feel xxx best of luck

My surgery is November 18th and I am nervous, but.... What I love best about this...even tho it will be a struggle, not easy..is that it IS permanent. I need to lose weight and I know deep down I need this tool to be a permanent part of my life to ensure I maintain my weight and my health. My suggestion, always remember what your drive was to do this and you'll never regret it. Good luck!! ????

You will all do great.

Roux en Y is reversible. The sleeve isn't.

This is all perfectly normal. I would honestly be worried if you weren't freaking out a little. This shows me you know how serious what you are about to do is and what will be required of you. It is an amazing journey that only you can experience and the nerves leading up to it are a part of it. Revel in them, bath in them, it is all a part of this amazing journey. The anticipation is what makes it all the more sweeter. If you are still too anxious once you get to the hospital, let them know. They are usually able to put something in your IV for the nerves to help calm you down.

For tonight, just stay focused on why you are doing this and all of the amazing things you will be able to do once this part of the journey is over. You will wake up from surgery tomorrow ready to tackle the rest of your life in a way you have never been able to before. I am so excited for you. I still looking back at the nerves I had before surgery and think fondle about how they shaped my view of the whole process to get where I am today. It did not seem like it at the time, but it is worth it.

If there is anything I can do to continue helping or you have any questions, I am an open book. My contact info is below.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
