Happy new years folks! I've been mia but doing well. It seems that the times I feel like I look thinner, I actually am thinner. I've lost a total of 7" off my hips in 3 months. I went to my 3 month post op on the 2nd and I was down to 208, with clothing obviously, so about 206 without. My scale broke so it's been a struggle because I'm not daily weighing like I used to do. I'm going to have to buy one this weekend. Hoping to be in wonderland by the middle of the month. Bronx hoping you start feeling better soon. Layknee, hoping you break your stall soon and hoping by April your troubles go away. Beni, I've had some troubles with food here and there, I got stuck with chicken and it all came back up. The most painful 2 hours I've had yet. The weird thing was, the chicken was shredded so it wasn't tough at all, Maybe eating too fast.

Ok friends, I'm at week 11 and have only lost 23 pounds. It's extremely difficult to get into the nutritionist at our program. I was supposed to have a 3 month check up with her but it will be February before I can get in to see her. I eat anywhere from 600-900 calories a day. I always get my Protein, (mostly from drinks) and I get my Water. I'm doing 30 minutes of cardio at least 2 days a week and I do a 30 minute routine of free weights 2/3 times a week.

Any guesses as to what I'm doing wrong. I do not eat carbs hardly at all. I don't have any issues swallowing and no food has seemed to bother me so far, I've tried everything but steak and fried stuff. Over Christmas I did eat a few pieces of fudge and a few Cookies (no dumping) but after Christmas I haven't eaten any sweets.

Happy Birthday. So cute you both share the same b-day.

I feel much better but while on vacation that first day was not the best and I actually threw up in the car. Thank goodness I had a bag because it came so sudden there was no time to stop. Today I have been fine but all my food was mushy. Yogurt is my friend.

The odd thing is I throw up just slime. No food at all (maybe a tiny bit). Sorry for the TMI. Does anyone have this? It's like the food won't come up.

@@Beni, have you tried chewable papaya enzyme? It's supposed to help with digestion. Hope you're feeling better!

Hi Everyone

It's been a while since I've posted but I do try and read all your posts!

I see people are posting their meal plans. I do pretty much the same thing every day. No real time for Breakfast so I always have my Jay Robb Protein shake with either blueberries or strawberries. I use almond milk. I take my Vitamins in the morning too and have added cod liver oil and flaxseed oil. I'm still very constipated!

I drink a lot of Water on my way to work. I have a 2.5 hour commute so plenty of time to drink! Thank God there's a bathroom on the train!

When I get to work I get in some more Water. Then about 11:30, I'll have my first meal. Always 3.5 oz of dense Protein and 1.5 oz. of some kind of vegetable or vegetable blend. Wait 30 minutes and start on more water.

About 3:00, I eat my second meal which is the same as the first. Protein and veggies. Same ratio.

On the train ride home I have my second Protein Shake I prepared that morning.

When I get home, exact same thing for dinner.

If I want something extra, I just have another protein shake.< /p>

I think that I'm very very blessed in that so far, nothing makes me sick except for eating too fast. Still working on that. And then it's just a bit of a nauseous feeling but goes away quickly. And the Constipation. Yuck.

I'm so sorry that some of you are still having such a hard time. I still sort of wait for the other shoe to drop but so far, so good. But I realize that anything can happen at any time.

Hang in there October Warriors! This really is such a great group.

Thanks for including me.

Sherri

I had my first non-friend comment about my weight loss today from a long time customer. This is how the conversation went.

Her: are you losing weight?

Me: yep, trying

Her: are you planning to lose more?

Me: that's the plan

Her: well, you look sickly thin. You shouldn't lose anymore!

Me: speechless.....

Thanks for making my day! Not!

Amylynns I am sorry. Not nice. I had a coworker tell me the other day. You need to be careful on what you eat because so & so did this surgery & she lost alot of weight at first and now she is big again. I told her yes some people have different situations then I asked her why dont you do this surgery it could really help your diabetes & Cpap. I didnt realize but I think she is envious that I am losing & healthy.

I've had similar experiences with co-workers and long-time friends and family. Some have out-in-public challenged me on my weight loss. Some have taken me aside, in a confidential way. But others are nice.

The out-in-public challenges go like this, and these are direct quotes: "Are you sure you're supposed to lose as much as you've done already?" "You remind me of Karen Carpenter!" That second one's a direct charge of anorexia, because I'm a guy! I believe these people may not have my best interests in mind, and may just want to make a weird, bad joke or something at my expense. I admit I'm still getting used to the new me, because the guy I see in the mirror everyday is different from the one I see in recent photos. But my health care team are pleased with my success and improved health. So I must be doing alright.

Others have taken me aside and asked "confidentially" if it's the "big C" meaning cancer, that has caused the weight loss. I try to make sure they know the weight loss is intentional and TO IMPROVE MY HEALTH! They are genuinely happy when they hear it's not cancer and it is intentional on my part. They usually congratulate me.

Others just say something like "you look great!" In response I usually say something like "Thanks! So do you!" And they usually see that their comment registered with me and we're still on friendly terms with each other.

I had uterine cancer and a hysterectomy before my RNY. Now I find that people think I still have cancer and they're afraid to ask me about my weight loss!

I'm glad you've survived! I hope you're blessed with real loved ones who care enough to ask, and then really listen when you respond.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
