Why have I been told to have my first fill at 5 weeks when I know people who have had it at 3?

Hi all! After my operation my dr surgeon came to review me before discharging me from the hospital. He told me to come back and see him in 5 weeks and that he would be away sometime that week so make it 6 weeks.
At the time I didn't even think about it, but now I'm wondering why would he wait so long to give me my first fill? My GF had the same op with same dr and he filled her at 3 weeks?
I would like more restriction so do you think I would be able to move my first fill appointment forward? What would be the purpose of having my first fill later as apposed to sooner? If anyone has any knowledge about fills and frequency of them it would be hugely appreciated if they could clarify this
Thanks
