Is the indigestion feeling the full feeling?

Have you had surgery yet? Are you on full liquids? You are not really going to feel "full" until you start eating more solid foods. Then it's pretty unmistakable ;) I get this tightening in my esophagus, but I try not to get that far. I measure most everything in a 4 oz ramekin and stop when I'm done. Trust me, the full feeling post surgery isn't near as pleasant as it was pre surgery :)

Yes I had the surgery last Monday. I stay hungry. I was wondering if it was mental hunger or genuine hunger. I'm drinking broth and I never get a full feeling, just indigestion. Thank you for your help!

Once you move to purees and solids you will get full quick. Like, two or three bites quick. And your mind will be like, "I can eat more than two bites" but your stomach is all "oh hell naw" about it. I used to get a pang, and a gurgle, but that went away once my stomach healed a bit more. I know when I get close to my limit I start burping or hiccuping. I went through Northwestern Memorial, and you are on purees your first day home. So I did not experience the not being full feeling. I actually was not hungry at all for like three weeks. It was a chore to eat (this was new to me because I love to eat).

I complained about not getting full the first week of surgery in this very forum. I almost felt like the doc didn't do the surgery because I felt NO RESTRICTION at all and was hungry! You're probably having head hunger, I had it bad and it sucked. When your having nothing but liquids YOU'RE HUNGRY! Keep getting your fluids in, take your antacids if they were prescribed to you, and you'll get through it! Once you start pureeds, the hunger will subside :)

I know I'm getting close to capacity when I start burping . . . I've also noticed my nose becomes runny (someone else on this forum said that as well). Crazy . . . .

I wasn't hungry post-surgery, but I didn't have a 'full' feeling until I started on purees/mushies. I still eat too fast (am still learning) and have overeaten and gotten the slimes at least ten times. Sliming isn't the worst thing in the world, but unpleasant enough to be great negative reinforcement.

Also, having very wet food generally allows me to eat more. It seems that less moist foods (like egg beaters) tend to 'stick' to my teeny tummy and fills me up faster.

I had difficulty determining my fullness so I bought 4oz cups ( Walmart)and if I ate the whole cup and didn't feel full I stopped. It helped me learn my fullness trigger.

Ditto to the uncomfortable full feeling, excessive salivation, and runny nose.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
