Sometime around 6 or 8 months ago I ran across a medical journal article concerning a study that showed that WLS patients who had plastic surgery afterward had a better chance of keeping their lost weight off than patients who did not have plastic surgery. I thought I had bookmarked it, but now I can't find it.

I thought that I had found the link on here, but I can't find it by searching here, and I can't find it by searching Google or Google Scholar. Can anyone point me to the study.

I couldn't find the actual study, but here is an October 2012 article about it that mentions a November issue of "Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery"

I read the study within the last 2 weeks. I believe it was in the plastic surgery board website. Or it may have been NIH or New England Journal of Medicine. I will look for it. In addition to quality of life it stated that the removal of extra skin actually showed better results in maintaining a healthy weight several years after bariatric surgery. Patients were regaining more weight if they didn't have plastic surgery

Wow. That looks like they just edited and republished the same article from 2012 that I posted above. They even link to that article mentioning it as "a recent study".

Yes, they bear an uncanny resemblance. I think the American Society of Plastic Surgeons is trying to get insurance to pay for excess skin removal after bariatric surgery. Obviously, I am all for it. But of course, hard evidence will be needed such as studies to make this happen. I think it will happen eventually.

I also think I saw a Swedish study along those lines. I have read so many studies in the past month. However, I only focused on making a choice regardinging which surgery to go with. The others I only glanced.

I want to thank everyone for finding these links for me. I think this paper really speaks to the value of plastic surgery after bariatric surgery.

Well. . I am am a believer. I finally FEEL NORMAL. My body isn't perfect but at age 50 I finally feel like a desirable woman. This is hard to articulate. ..but I swear I will never regain massive weight. Part of that is due to massive plastics.
