Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Bandsters

That will be great. It's good to have an interweb quit buddy because two real life friends should NEVER try to quit togethor in my opinion.

I agree! It's gonna be tough, but I know we can do it. By the way, you look great!! I checked out your albums on here. We are very similar, we started out close to the same weight and our goals are about the same. I look forward to our interweb friendship!

i've been spending a lot of time in rants & raves since i joined lbt, partly because it's fun, but also because for the most part it's very glbt friendly. Unless i haven't looked in the right place, i don't think there's a support thread for us, so i decided to start one!

A little about me. I'm eddie & i'm a 42-year-old gay man. I have a partner of just over nine years (henceforth referred to as dh), a 17-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter. Dh and i are stupid. Don't believe me, just ask our kids. Dh has hypothyroidism and had not been able to lose any weight after his thyroid "went nuts" several years ago. I've just been overweight all my life. He was banded on 2/21/07 and i'm getting mine next wednesday (5/16). I can't wait!

Anyway, i would love to hear from all the glbt folks out there. Hopefully this can be a place for us to freely discuss our unique issues and get support we may not be able to get elsewhere.

why does this have to be about sex? The lap band is about weight.

Why does perversion always seem to pervail?

Just for the record, Jo Jo I've reported you for inciting a fight.

And to answer you idiotic question is that lapband is a tool one integrates into the life. Being lesbian isn't about how I have sex. It's about how I fit into the world.

The point being if I never had sex again, I'd still be a lesbian.

Please go to the forums where people discuss their differences, the people of color, the biker people, the christians etc and ask them to shut up because they are talking about life that indirectly relates to their success.

I don't care where you go, but please just go far far away.

Seriously, That guy sounds like he purposly sought out this thread to gay bash. There are so many areas of this site that I'm not into, but I'm not going to go there and post a hateful message.

Thanks Juli, You handled that well.

Hi guys and gals. Just wanted to say hello. And to tell you that I have finally made exercise a priority. Swimming. My gym has a pool. I'm not a graceful swimmer, but it's fun.

Though today I thought I was going to have to swim to work. We have 11,000 people in our schools here from New Orleans. So Shreveport is pretty crowded right now. Then of course he hear the grumbling about how crime is going to go up etc. It did rise slightly during Katrina, but for the most part the people from N.O just need a place to sleep and food, I can't believe how selfish people can be sometimes. when I get off work I'm headed to the shelter to donate wash clothes, towels, and old clothes. The weather here is scary but okay. We still have electricity and Water which is awesome. Some trees are down, but the roads are clear. Last night I got NO NO NO sleep between my lab who was freaking out, the tin on my roof being slammed with debrie, and the thunder, but I'm alive safe and still have my home.

You guys take care of yourself, and don't let ignorant people bring you down.

Oh, and still smoke free! Go me!

Go you indeed.

I love how your joy comes through your post even while you are dealing with storms and selfish people and smoke free no less.

Rock on.

The weight loss slows down the closer you get to your goal, but you adjust. The expectation that I had for a steady 10 pounds a month were pretty silly with a little hind sight.

Good luck to you though. You're doing great. As for support for LBGT, I'd check www.stonewall.org or www.outinamerica.com

Thanks Juli, have you thought about running for office? I'd vote for you! got a way with words for sure:thumbup: I think we should give our :tt2: friend, JOJO a round of thanks though for getting our blood moving , a good old shot in the arm! (if not a shot elsewhere) I just don't understand the likes of such. glad we are still here......It's been a rough summer, going for a fill on the 15th and not looking forward to the lecture I'm sure to get. I was happy to hear from someone on here that a fill may be needed as time goes. I thought I had found the spot a while ago but looking back at my "stall" I'd say I'm no longer there. Love you guys!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
