Begging for answers.

I had my surgery July 30th. I'm having some problems. I was 311 & now 278, but I think I'm at a weight stall. I am in my regular food phase, but I absolutely do not know what to eat. I barley eat at all. I feel hungry but I don't want to eat something that my stomach ends up not agreeing with. I try to map a meal plan & I even lost my focus on that. Protein shakes for some reason I can't not stand anymore. It makes me sick. So far I have eaten pizza (ate the cheese off of it), a few Doritos (I know I shouldn't have ate them but they were the only food that has went down well), I tried a chicken tender (that went down horrible), I accidentally ate Pepper, steak, & onions (my cousin cooked it two days in a row & I was unbearably hungry) that I had chewed well & got down until I realized it was red meat. Yesterday , I made a turkey, onion, & provolone cheese roll (with just those 3 items, no bread) & I ate one roll, & felt horrible & guilty after I've eaten it. I'm just failing on every single thing. I don't know what to do. I just feel like crying. Nothing is working the way I had planned for me. I was expecting to do great & drop the weight fast & be happy with my results. I guess I really wasn't mentally ready for this surgery because I am really starting to regret it.

Please I need advice, wisdom, or a miracle.

Have you not received a meal plan from your doc?

Try egg whites, Beans, grilled chicken, salmon that is grilled or steamed is better, a can of tuna

I will be the hopefully gentle critic here. It looks like you are making bad choices, and feeling guilty about the good ones. There is nothing wrong with a turkey wrap with no bread. In fact, that is a GREAT lunch. Try spreading hummus on the turkey instead of the cheese sometimes to lower the fat. I eat turkey, hummus or cheese, and a leaf of lettuce almost every day for lunch. Also, the pepper steak and onions are not bad, either. Those choices are both high in Protein and will keep you full. Just make sure you chew it up real good and that you eat slowly.

Now.... the topping off a pizza are high fat, high sodium, and not much protein. If the chicken tender was breaded, then that was also a lot of fat. We don't need to talk about the Doritos, right? Please don't get into the "it was the only food that went down" excuses. When I had my lap-band I fell into that habit and it only results in weight gain. If you have the sleeve, then your stomach should tolerate just about everything it did before, so that is a mindset that you have to get out of. I know that a lot of people have trouble with certain types of food, but if your surgery was successful and you are having a normal recovery, you should not have many issues.

I'm sure you know this, but I will say it out loud (sort of) - WLS will NOT make you lose weight. You still have to CHOOSE everything that goes into your mouth. I believe you DO have to sill be on a "diet" while losing weight. Watch your calories - do you use my fitness pal to log your food? WLS will help you control the portion of what you eat, but you have to make the choice of what that portion is going to be. In my opinion WLS gives you the opportunity of maintain your weight loss and makes losing a little easier. But you still have to diet to get there.

You got this - you have lost 30 pounds which is great. It will come off. STOP beating yourself up! hugs!

I know how you feel totally. I am 11 weeks out. But those first weeks were hard to transition.

I was getting in so little calories I just ate what I could. I was not worried about the fat or carbs, but just to get something down that agreed and stayed.

I track everything good and bad in my fitness pal. The reality is "it is what it is". I would rather have things go down smooth and acceptable than to freak out over fat and carbs.

I do rolls like you too. I love seafood and chicken. I find Protein bars easy to snack on to get a chocolate taste and get the protein.

Today is my daughters 16th birthday. I had the smallest slice of ice cream cake. But I did not wait long enough after my chicken bites for dinner and I didn't keep the cake down.

Just do what you can. Remind yourself what the optimal is, and give yourself some slack for not being 100% every day. This is one of the most major changes I have ever made.

I work at it every day. I don't fail any day though because I am trying every day with a positive attitude. You can do this, it gets better and I'm looking forward to feeling even better each day.

Hello

I was sleeved on July 21st. It's been a journey with some ups and down moments for me as well. I'm the same as you with gauging what foods my new stomach will agree with. I have good days and bad days. But, I don't regret the surgery. For me, it's understanding that wls is a tool and not the magic answer. I've lost pounds and inches so far. I try not compare myself to others. I look at where I was before the sleeve and where I am now. I embrace my triumphs. I have stalls too but I have faith I'm in control of this journey. positive thinking and support will help you through this journey and you have to believe that it does get better. Hang in there. Hugs!
