I can't believe the change in 7 days

That is so awesome! I know exactly what you mean about the blood sugar and blood pressure. I feel so positive about things now that I don't have to take insulin and a other meds I was taking. Just a little advice. Don't miss drinking your protein and get in as much water as you can. It will make you feel bad and nauseas if you don't. I did learn that the hard way. But am getting the hang of this now.

    Questions about dermabond

Go ahead and shower. It took almost 3 weeks for just the paper tape to come off and I showered almost every day. Just don't scrub. It will be fine.

    Complaining here...

Hey roundisashape Thanks for your good thoughts. I read somewhere on here that acid reflux could make you feel nauseas and sick. I had to start back taking my Nexium again and felt 95% better still a little shaky from not being able to get in enough liquids or Protein. Yea!!!! Thanks again to all the Vets.

    Complaining here...

roundisashape So glad you posted this. I needed a laugh this morning. Everyone else thanks for the posts and suggestions. I have been down for the last two days because after things have been going so well, I have started to have the yucks for the last 2 days and been very weak and shaky. Just the thought of putting something in my mouth, even broth, triggers my gag reflex. No pain, just the severe nausea. I am trying to force as much liquid as possible and I think the suggestion of mixing the Protein shakes with ice will help. Thanks again for all the posted suggestions.
  6. Where has this nausea come from? Three weeks clicking along and now the yucks every morning! 63 and no way pregnant!

  7. I am Type II diabetic. I was taking Janumet twice a day and 75 units of Levemir twice a day. I had my sleeve surgery on 11/17. I haven't had any insulin since I got out of the hospital. I am still taking the Janumet and will until my blood sugar drops under 120. I'm almost there. Also I was on 6 other meds, and including the Janumet I am on 3 meds now. I am thrilled and hope to be off the blood pressure meds before long.

Gotta remember this next time someone brings donuts!
  9. Yep, these posters are absolutely correct. I gained 5 pounds in the hospital from IV's and bloating. Took a week for the gas and bloating and IV fluid to dissipate. Now, at 18 days post, I have lost 24 pounds. It WILL happen.

    Feeling disappointed and unsure

Type I or Type II diabetes? I had Type II. Was insulin dependent for almost 3 years. 150 units of Levemir per day plus Janumet twice a day. Sleeved on 11/17/14 and am no longer on any insulin.

    I DID IT!

    Every day gets better!!!!
  12. Before surgery I was on 7 different pills and insulin. I now take 3 different pills and will soon be off of those if things continue as they are. I am 14 days post-op and even with some recent nausea and some weakness, I still say it was so worth it.
  13. 14 days out and now I'm beginning to have nausea. Just the thought of putting anything in my mouth is disgusting. I feel weak and fainty. Supposed to go back to work tomorrow. I'm trying hard to drink protein thinking that may be the problem.

Ask for more time from the doctor, my doctor gave me an additional week and it really helped. Call your doctor and let him know. Good luck!

    I'm starving!

My sweet husband made a pot of red beans and sausage and strained some of the juice out for me. It seems to stick better with me than just plain broth. I keep telling myself I can make it till Thursday which is the day I can move to cream soups and cream of wheat.
  17. My doc said 10 days clear liquids, but as you will see on here, everyone is different.

    School or Work

I took two weeks off. One for the surgery and travel, and one to rest and pull my schedule together.
  19. Wonderful! You really sound good. I am jealous of your puree stage. LOL I have 4 more days of juice and broth. I'd almost rather not eat by now, but I know I have to. Look on pinterest for bariatric meals you should find some good things there. I was looking before my surgery and some of the foods looked really yummy. So keep us posted!

    Questions about post op pain

I can't even call what I had pain. It was more like an uncomfortable bloated feeling. My doctors thought I was just being a trooper, but I seriously only had a little gas when I first woke up and by the time I was in my own room at the hospital I was fine.

    My Journey

You are absolutely correct in that the more weight you can lose now, the better it will be for you during surgery. I am 6 days out and have no regrets whatsoever. You will find a lot of information and support here. Welcome.
  22. Doing great! No regrets.

    November sleevers in Mexico?

Yea!! We did it! We flew out of San Diego to Dallas on Friday night and made it home Saturday morning about 1:30. Rested, sipped, walked and slept most of the day. I did go to the grocery store for some soup and juices. The docs at INT Hospital in Mexico were surprised that I did so well. I had 3 procedures and only had a very little pain when I first woke up. No nausea or throwing up. Having a little trouble with my blood pressure, but no insulin since Wednesday. Down 14 pounds since this started.
