So, I got home from hospital last week, and I didn't feel like like dealing with making shakes so we had a bottle of Ensure in the fridge (was for an other family member), so I used it. After a couple of "meals" of 2-3 oz., I got diarrhea, did another "meal" before it clicked, was milk or Protein causing it? I thought it might be milk, so got some non- milk shakes which seemed to agree OK. Then I thought to look at the Ensure label, it has over 20 grams of sugar per serving, do you think this is an example of dumping with the sleeve?

I am trying to find a shake or shake mix that works and does not cause gas, bloating, or diarrhea. Even finding Vitamins that do not cause problems is quite a challenge. I have to watch for milk Protein but unfortunately I am not sure which form it is that makes me so sick. I cannot eat or drink things that are processed milk products like soft serve ice cream, flavored or preserved coffee c reamers. but I can manage a glass or two of non fat or 1% without having problems. oSo it is important that I get this figured out now. I also can not tolerate any form of sugar alcohol which is the first ingredient in many "sugar free' items. My nutritionist does not want me to rely on soy Protein and has suggested I try powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored and see if it works for me.

Probably not. Dumping with sleeve patients is not common.

When I dump, I get overheated then loose bowels. Not always diarrhea. Sometimes just multiple episodes (3 or 4 in an hour) of sudden huge BMs. It's almost always preceded by a drink/meal that was high in sugar.

My NUT said Ensure was not approved for diet because it has too much sugar.

yes yes yes, on all labels you want for the Total fat & Sugar to 10 g or less on each....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
