hello

I am not from the UK but I signed to this forum after founding it very helpful especially that I have many concerns about the surgery

My weight is 101 KG and my hight is 160 cm ,I am 23 year old and in my final year in the medical school , I have only one and half week ( 10 days ) vacation to do the surgery I still didn't call the doctor and make the appointment for the surgery .

but first I want to ask , after the surgery how many days did you need to be back to the active state that you were before the surgery ?

and for the ones who did the surgery years ago , did the surgery affect your performance on the work or the school ?

do you guys advise me to have the surgery ( if I am going to have it it is going to be at the end of September and I have to travell back to my city 2 das after the surgery ) ??

I am still confused and my mother is worried about my performance and the Vitamins loss !!

thank you in advcace

After the surgery you will experience some pretty good fatigue however your body should feel okay by day 10. I traveled back home 2 days after surgery and did fine. You can do the surgery but plan on some exhaustion and mental stress from giving up your friend (food). This does pass but it did take me about 9 weeks to feel like myself again. In addition after the surgery you might feel like you can't walk a straight line for a few weeks. I tripped over myself and walked silly for a week or two. If your schedule isn't to demanding you should be okay. Just keep up with your Vitamins every day! I am 1 year and 3 months post op and have lost 120 pounds and it was the best thing I ever did for myself! Best of luck to you!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
