My surgery date is 13 Oct, 2014 although I may actually have it on the 6th instead. Your weight is the same as mine :). Where are you having surgery?

Livelaughlove2014, I hope this surgery leads you to a healthy pregnancy! I have PCOS too and I was one of the "lucky" ones to over come it with 2 babies. It was a long battle with many meds and surgeries spanning over 6 years. I know of a fantastic trying to conceive with PCOS forum if you're interested. Best wishes!

Hello all - im new here and will have my surgery on Monday, October 13th in Tijuana Mexico. Im flying in from Alaska. I dread the pre-op diet, leak test and removal of the drain. I turn 38 on October 8th and this is my gift to myself. The reason for my decision is help with my pcos as i have had 3 failed ivf's already. Wishing us all a successful surgery and fast recovery. God bless you all!

I understand completely! I want to do this so badly but I have a tiny fear of leaving my kids without a mother. :(

Oh the usual ... Not coming through the anaesthetic , sleeve will leak , scared of regretting , but deep down I know I have to take the risk and go for it . Hopefully I will say it's the best decision I have made eeeeeeek

Smiling Panda, I like your screen name! Everyone at my job knows and I feel like I will be under a microscope when I return. Most have been supportive, no one has been out right negative but I feel like when I return after surgery that everyone will be watching what I am eating or if I am losing anything . . . I'll just have to deal with it and try to use it as encouragement. Good luck!

My date is Oct 20th. I have not talked to many about this part of my life. At my work only a few people even know. I worry i'll fail at this too.

i am going tonight to the monthly support group meeting my hospital hosts. i've got to ask if i'm going to be in trouble because i'm not losing as much as they told me to during my 3 month preop diet. it's really stressing me out.

i'm upset because i lost control and ate too much last night. this morning the scale was up 4 lbs!!!! so i'm back to being down 6 lbs out of the 14 they wanted.

how is everyone doing on their pre-op weight loss regimens?

It's really strange how everyone's doctor has different requirements. My surgeon does not require any weight loss. I have a two-week pre-op diet that requires mostly liquid and a small dinner w/ Protein and veggies.

Kathy, I"m the same. I didn't have to lose weight. I just can't gain any. I'm not sure what my pre op is yet. I do my last weight in tomorrow and then off for approval to ins.

I don't know what you are eating. I didnt have to lose weight I just couldn't gain more weight. Of course I did so I panicked. I started a low carb diet like Atkins did the induction phase and started working out like a hour 3 times a week 40 mins cardio and 20 mins weights and loat 15 lbs in 2 weeks. You can do it. Its hard but you can soooo do it.

I haven't had my surgery yet so I may not be the best person to give advice. However I have read many many posts of people who were scared as it got closer. Very normal. I'm not sure if you're dealing with any health issues. For me, I look forward to getting off some of my meds, as well as being able to physically do more.

At the end of the day if you are not happy with your skin, there is always the option to have plastic surgery. I would never tell someone to go through with the surgery if they are having doubts. I just want you to know that your feelings are completely normal.

My date is October 24! Sometimes that sounds so far away, but it really isn't! At first, I was nervous about the surgery itself. But now, I'm kind of not too worried about the surgery, but I am worried about what happens after the surgery, what happens a year from now...will I be doing all the healthy things I need to do? There's a lifetime of habits here that I'll need to change. It's really helped spending time on this site, I've learned so much.

(LiveLaughLove, I'm also in AK, flying to TJ.)

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
